Re: PC12 pilot applying for ATPL with ''expired'' Group 1.
Call someone at Transport and ask. Yes, the regs do specifically say "multi-engine-AIRPLANE" but my last PPC ride (in a sim) was used to satisfy the skill requirement when I applied for my ATPL. Most inspectors will tell you that a Level C or D sim is perfectly fine. But keep in mind, based on the ...

Re: Applying for ATPL with PC12 PPC, ''expired'' Group 1.
You could renew an IPC in flight training device but since you’re applying for the ATPL your group 1 has to have been done in an airplane in the previous 12 months. 421.34(5) as Bob posted above. No sim or ftd allowed. Thanks for the reply, So regarding that, if I did a type rating on DHC8 or 737 f...

Re: Applying for ATPL with PC12 PPC, ''expired'' Group 1.
How is a PC12 “group 1?” Seems pretty explicit in the regs to me. No multi engine, no skill requirement regardless if you hold a Group 1. Maybe I didn't explain properly... The question isn't IF I need a group 1, as PC12 is group 3. I have a multi engine type rating but it is more than 12 months ol...

Re: Applying for ATPL with PC12 PPC, ''expired'' Group 1.
How is a PC12 “group 1?” (5) Skill (a) Within the 12 months preceding the date of application for the licence, an applicant shall demonstrate in a multi-engined aeroplane with no central thrust configuration and fitted with instruments and equipment suitable for IFR flight in controlled airspace, f...

PC12 pilot applying for ATPL with ''expired'' Group 1.
Hey everybody I am ready to apply for my ATPL, but since last fall I got a job as a PC12 capt and so my last group 1 check is more than 12 months old (was a type rating). I don't want to wait for my exams to expire and so I am looking at paying for a group 1 ride in a school. I have been told by som...

Supervising Hood Time
Hello, I have my CPL IFR,Instructor Class 4 and a friend of mine bought a plane so his kid could finish his CPL. There are no schools here and he needs to build some Hood time towards his IFR. I don't have 500 hrs PIC but I'm current in IFR from my current job. I am trying to find references in the ...

Re: Brand new pilot looking for advice during COVID
Hey guys thanks for all the replies. Quick update on my end; got a job thanks to my past airforce experience fixing Cf18's at L3 in CYMX. Also got to teach floats a few days here and there and I am midway through my instructor rating. Also, taking up aviation management university courses this fall....

Amputee PPL
Hey everybody, I have a buddy who lost his leg above the knee in Afghanistan who reached out to me recently about doing flight training. He wants to do his PPL and bush flying (tail wheel and floats). Is there anybody who has prior experiences who I can get in touch with and try and get him set up? ...

Re: Brand new pilot looking for advice during COVID
I’d go visit these places. Show your face. Talk with a chief pilot or the owner. They probably won’t have a job for you but in 3 months they might. And someone they met and talked to for 45 minutes stands out a lot more than a guy who emailed his resume for that job. I'll do that thanks for the adv...

Re: Brand new pilot looking for advice during COVID
About those survey jobs, or any low flying job for that matter, where do you find them ? I probably check avcanada and pilotcareercentre 4 times a day in case something pops up. Right now survey companies are likely getting flooded with resumes, so they won't be posting any jobs. (I'm sure the same...

Re: Brand new pilot looking for advice during COVID
Talk about a bad time for a career change... Joined the airforce in the years after 9/11 because there were no jobs and after 12 years as an aircraft tech, flight engineer and 2 tours I got out to "finally" be a pilot...Since there was a shortage and all...sold everything and moved back home. Well ...
