Re: EI for Airline Workers

If you were laid off and applied for EI and not CERB as I did (late March) you're in the EI system but getting CERB initially. I fill out my EI report, but get CERB until it winds down. Then I get my full eligiability of EI with the calculations done fro the date my application was processed, 12mont...

Re: Phenom 300 and cold we ops

The -10c is for the Lead Acid. There are no Ni Cad batteries. If ithe exposure time of -10c is less then 12 hours you are OK If it is -10 to -15 then you have 3.5 hours before you have to take out the batteries. At -15 to -20 then you have 2.5 hours At -20 to -25 then you have 2 hours before they s...

Re: Phenom 300 and cold we ops

I haven’t heard of that kind of limitation on a lead acid battery before. -10*C is a limitation for cold soaking for nicads on different types (C560, HS25, etc,) and that’s why people switch to lead acids. Is there an STC for a battery heater that can be plugged in like a tannis heater? Such a beast...

Is that -10* only for nicad’s? Is there an STC for lead acids?

Phenom 300 and cold we ops

I’ve heard it said that Phenoms have some issues in cold weather. Can anyone with experience on the type give some feedback on cold weather limitations or weaknesses. Particularly interested with reference to the 300 model.

If you have the Garmin Glo, did you get the aviation model or just the standard model?

Re: external GPS for Ipad

So here I am, back researching the same thing for a different employer. At the last one we ended up using the Bad Elf Pro and it worked very well high Jepp FD on the IPad Mini. It also worked on FltPlan Go. Comparing prices again, and again looks like a better deal on the Garmin Glo. BBB, still work...

Yes
Yes
No
Yes
The Alberta based management companies all seem to be feeling it to various degrees. Everyone has seen pilots leaving for better pay elsewhere or more likely taking their chance at the airlines.

I just thought I would bump this. There are looking to hire for both seats on the RJ and DH8 in YYC. I'm curious what their flying and WAWCON is like.

I keep hearing that the current environment is going to force Jazz into hiring DE Captains sooner or later. Anyone with a cut all data on that?

Re: Looking for stability...

Well that's the boat I'm in. In early April I'm becoming a father for the first time and turning 50! And I did end up getting laid off for the second time in two years with another airplane being sold from beneath me. I'm just curious what people are experiencing for the length time between applicat...

Re: CBC News looking for comment

I think population density is part of the issue, but high airport fees and fuel taxes are a big part of the operating expense. As others have stated I would not want to decrease rules and regulations. In fact, Transport Canada on the aviation side is woefully understaffed. They do not have the manpo...

Consider West With the Night by Beryl Markham. It's a memoir and stunningly well written. She was a daughter of British parents born and raised in Kenya and grew up running around and in the bush with the local tribes. She speaks of Africa in a captivating way. Then there's the flying adventure. She...

Doesn't unifor represent Morningstar and Sunwing? They have a history with smaller airlines in Canada. Formerly the autoworker if I recall correctly.

It's pretty easy to play armchair psychiatrist or psychologist. There's a reason why it requires so many years of training. Most psychological issues occur on a spectrum, and someone may experience considerable symptoms on a short term basis on that spectrum or long term, chronically, on that spectr...
