Re: Accident location - Beaver CF-IOE

Hello, I just received the accident report from Archives Canada. It is 55 pages long but there is a lot of repetition. The location of N54 06’ W101 55’ puts it slightly inland from the SE shore of Namew Lake. I have found that these locations on older reports are sometimes inaccurate. 2 passengers s...

Re: Accident location - Beaver CF-IOE

Good day, De Havilland DHC-2 "Beaver" registration CF-IOE crashed on Sat. Aug. 13, 1955 at Namew Lake, SK ( about 24 miles NE of Cumberland House). There were 4 fatalities and 2 survivors. On Aug. 3 and 4, 1956 a cairn was built near the crash site. Is anybody aware of this cairn / crash site? Lat. ...

Re: Accident location - Beaver CF-IOE

I did some more digging. I found that the accident report is filed in the National Archives under RG 12 Volume 1194, 5002-476. You can order this from National Archives but it is rather cumbersome. Another file I have says location is N54 06 W101 55. This puts it more or less on the south west side...

Sorry but I can’t find too much other than a reference to a location called Whitey Narrows. It is the narrows between Cumberland House and the south end of Namew Lake.

Re: Winter storage for float plane

Parked our beaver for the winter. I put anti -freeze in the floats, disconnected the battery. Mechanic doesn't think anything else is necessary. Thoughts on this? Pickling engine, removing battery....... ? Be careful of the type of antifreeze you put in the floats. Some types of windshield washer a...

Could be an early Anson with British Cheetah engine.

I thought the Caribou had P&W R2000 engines.

Re: Seaplane basesbn alberta

As far as I know there aren’t any. Closest you’ll get is to land in the lake by the airport in High Level and have the FBO fuel truck come down to the wharf if it’s still there. I ferried a plane to Yellowknife 15-20 years ago and that was the procedure at that time. I don’t think you’ll find anyth...

Re: Beaver gbzh red lake crash

That Beaver crashed hard. That damage isn’t from a dug float or a cartwheel. Amazing there weren’t any fatalities. Hope everyone makes a full recovery. Will be a long road for some for sure. Yes I agree. This is Beaver serial # 1518 built in 1963. According to Neil Aird’s site it has no known accid...

I would argue whether he ever saw him or not. He was still pretty tail low in the water and the Beaver has a rather large cowl on it that doesn't lend well to great visibility when not on the step. The other video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/W9eRTNNU6fQ Finally, somebody said it. Among a crowd ...

Friend told me x-wind limit for 777 is 38 knots.

Can you tell us if B C Yukon ever imported a Bristol Freighter? And who was the chief engineer living in a engine crate? BC Yukon never had a Bristol Freighter. Last week we hung an engine on Bellanca Aircruiser CF-AWR. This is the first time an engine has been on it in 74 years. We are putting AWR together for display in the new museum.
