Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

Metro's are only as dangerous as whoever is controlling them. They've been around for a long time for a reason. I have around 300 hours on Metro 2s and I loved flying those birds. Classic case of blame the equipment and not the operator. The Bearskin YRL incident is an outlier, that crew unfortunate...

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow

I am sorry if you went to Jazz expecting a job at the mainline however, another consideration here is the fact that Jazz hires pilots with minimal experience. I was hired at AC in early 2023 with thousands of hours of experience including 737 left seat time. I get it, I am an outlier here, but I'd r...

Re: POST PAY IN JOB ADS!

Is this a website for airlines or for PILOTS? FOR TOO LONG companies have been hiding behind cute little job ads that DO NOT LIST THEIR PAY! Last time I checked there's a growing labor shortage with a lot less ATPL's flying around! OUR LICENCES ARE IN DEMAND. This website should reflect that demand...

Re: Discovery Air Fire Detection Pilots

Speaking from personal experience, the two summers I spent with DAFS (1 Detection, 1 Birddog) were fantastic. Met a lot of great folks while living in free (and clean) accommodation. Lots of downtime in the mornings and evenings to be spent at your leisure. If you have the 1000tt/75mpic requirements...

Re: Accept this job offer?

600 tt and 50 mpic Just to set the record straight, to fly the 337 in YHD, you need 1000 tt, 100 mpic, and 25 on type. Yup. I'd grab that King Air gig. Right now. Like the Easter Bunny. I'm not big on bonds, but you made one remark which makes you the poster child FOR bonds. About the CP who said h...

Taking Wing: The Power of No

I'm sure most if not all of the pilots on here can relate to this article in one way or another. Posted on Facebook recently by a former colleague of mine. Excellent reminder of the responsibilities pilots face and how to overcome adversity in the face of a "no-go" decision. I have been in the autho...

Re: Discovery Air Bird Dog (northern ont)

The majestic 337 or impeccable Commander await your skilled hands. If you like flying clapped out garbage with an interior that looks and smells like it's from the 70's then bird dogging is for you! OOOh a shiney panel, so they upgraded, big deal, the a/c that i've seen of theirs are tired and smel...

Re: Discovery Air Bird Dog (northern ont)

I've said it before and I'll say it again... One of the finest bunch of people to work with. The ACP is a standup guy who goes to bat for his pilots when he needs to. I was never pushed or told to do anything I was ever uncomfortable doing. That said the flying is mostly day VFR. Safety is number on...

Re: Discovery Air

Does anyone know if the bird dog requirements 2000tt and 500mpic are hard number for discovery air or do they take with a little less? Hi avbird, The minimums are 2000tt and 300mpic. Those are hard requirements mandated by the Ontario Aviation Standards. In addition, DAFS likes birddoggers to have ...
