Re: 67% yes
FYI, Porter has a TAFB set up for per diem and also has a tipping credit paid separately for this very issue.

Re: raccoons unionize
Porter is already in the process of implementing max 17 days worked FYI. You can opt to volunteer for 18 days and will be given the choice of one of the following: (1) another GDO in the next block, (2) a start credit of 5:00 at the beginning of the next monthly block, or (3) a total credit adjustme...

Re: Transat or Porter?
The Porter numbers are the most current since our second benchmark last summer.
In addition, as soon as AC gets their raise this year the Porter numbers will be benchmarked against it, so expect it to increase.

Re: Southwest airlines pilots reach tentative contract
Southwest pays pilots per trip. As a result, you need to multiply those rates by 1.149 to determine the hourly rate.
So year 1 FO is actually $133.75 US per hour which is $173.88 CAD.
Sorry to make it worse.

Re: Dash to E2 Transfers - Looking for Perspective
Hence why many captains with employee numbers above 4000 have recently bid to go FO on the E2. Everyone’s starting to realize Dash CA to E2 CA is years away for most. We will end up like Encore did where Dash pilots watch OTS people fill up the 737 while they wait on flow.

Re: Negotiations
One more thing to note is that although Jazz exceeds Porter Q Captain pay at Year 5, anyone joining Porter today will be eligible to transfer as DEC to the Embraer E2 after 1000 pic on the Dash. So bare in mind that almost no one on the Q now will be there after 5+ years as Captain. By then they wil...

Just to clear up. The new proposed Jazz hourly rates are still less than Porter’s Q rates.

Re: Headset recommendation?
Bose QC25 or 35 with the UFlyMike aviation mic adapter has been really great. It’s light weight, has good noise cancellation, and is relatively cheap. I’ve had many coworkers who found them more comfortable than their A20’s. Only downside was the back order to get the UFlyMike

Expect 6-10 weeks. You can call the Medical division of TC and give your name and date of birth and typically the person can tell you what they see on the database in terms of where you are at in the process.

Took me 7 weeks from the exam till it was issued and then placed in the mail through the Ontario region and that was with weekly phone calls for updates.

I was told the applications may appear to be cancelled on the website due to a transition into the new job posting. You would have applied for an older posting that was removed and replaced. I was told that the status does not affect your current standing so i.e. you should still be in the game.

Re: pc-12 FO or Encore interview
In the end it’s up to you but you do have enough experience to get yourself in the right seat of a twin turbine (kingair/b1900/metro etc) at a 703/704 or even 705lite so even if for whatever reason Encore doesn’t work out .. There are other opportunities out there similar to that of the PC12 gig. Th...

When I taught spins in the 172 our company used a power on stall technique with about 2000RPM and a nose high attitude .. Just as the stall horn started activating you would apply full back pressure on the elevator and full rudder deflection in the desired direction of rotation .. if you didn’t hold...

Re: Useful things to do before the beginning of training
If your goal is the airlines then you should ensure that you’re medically capable for certain before embarking on such an expensive venture. As for the school visits, best advice I could give you would be to try to talk to some students that you see around the school to get a realistic review of the...
