I bet a lot of pilots would love Alberta to separate, myself included. No more trying to jump through hoops to get the green card.
Finally get a chance to work for Delta, make twice the money, and pay half the tax…

Re: New Hire Layoffs at AC?
While there may not be current layoffs I have noticed lower monthly blocking averages, less callouts on reserve, and basically no VO opportunities. It does seem like things are overall slowing down with travel. Hopefully we don't go into a full on recession.

Re: Torn Between Aviation and Computer Science: Seeking Advice from the Aviation Community
I have done both. Did CS and worked for major tech companies and now a major airline pilot. Both careers are cyclical and have their pros and cons. If it were 3-4 years ago I would definitely recommend CS over flying but with the latest advancements in AI, offshoring, and higher interest rates flyin...

Hold on here You haven’t left, and “so far, no regret” Okay okay. Then you say you’re about to retire and want to join botl to improve your qol? Yeah sure. Jealous much? Bro could be 6’3, single and handsome, 26YO about to start at Delta or United and get to live in a warm city by the beach, make p...

Re: Moonlighting while at AC
Got to take that early upgrade but who knows how long that will last. My guess is things slow down in the next 2 years with a possible recession on the horizon. I thought that if you got an upgrade you have it for life unless there bid off or unless there is a layoff. I assume you are talking about...

Another important point to bring up is that just because someone bids the upgrade in year 2 doesn't mean they will actually pass the training and start making the $$$. The upgrade failure rate on some fleets is ~50% at the moment.

Still can't support my family with this TA and need to keep my second job to continue paying a mortgage and groceries. Hard no from me. Don't know how anyone can support a family in flat pay unless they are YUL based.

Re: SHOW UNITY. VOTE NO!
I'm voting no because in my opinion the TA is bad - especially for junior members. For me it's simple, I am voting based on the merits of the TA and not out of fear about what may happen if it gets voted down.

Best use of ratification pay at this point is to pay for lawyer fees to get the right to work in the US.

There is also the option to wear no lanyard as many are doing. I feel let down by both the union and company at this point.

My parents said they will stop giving me money after this new world class contract, I'm starting to worry, got to find a real job now can't live off line of credit forever. Surely even being a truck driver pays more than AC these days.

Re: It is imminent.......be ready.
We should have went on strike anyways regardless of what they ordered, like others said they would need CIRB approval to force us back to work which may not have happened. I feel like we lost our ability to strike now and even with a no vote on the TA we will likely go into binding arbitration with ...

Re: It is imminent.......be ready.
You are making some assumptions based on your situation, many, many pilots will be off flat pay if this passes. How many are going in to their fifth year, huge bump that year, on average from year 4 to 5 is a 50/hr increase. The no votes will mainly come from the pilots hired in the last two years,...

Well if this sticks I guess AC captains better get used to flying mostly single pilot and doing constant unpaid line indoc because with the starting pay AC won't attract any experienced FOs. AC will never have a shortage of qualified applicants. They know this and use it to their advantage. I disag...

Where are all the guys who were insulting WestJet and Encore pilots for not striking? Industry standard FO pay is 50-66% of captain pay. This is an embarrassment, I have lost all respect for the negotiating committee.
