Re: How old is too old?
I'm 48 and it's been pretty bad. I have over 500 TT. I contacted Susi Air in Indonesia and they were the only ones kind enough to at least say thanks but no thanks. That was for a job that pays around $900 USD a month. In Canada, I get no response. I think they want age to be commensurate with exper...

Re: Heard back from a job posting you applied to?
You can guess a person's age by looking at their work history and education graduation dates.
It's pretty obvious I ain't 22

Re: Heard back from a job posting you applied to?
Trying to return to Canada after escaping a pretty shady outfit. Applied to almost all of them. Around 550 TT. Turbine Multi Crew Experience. No response whatsoever. Could be my age is a factor. Am approaching 50. I'm essentially retired, so there's no pressure to get a job fortunately. More likely...

Please don't instruct if you don't want to instruct.
Also, if you're a 1000 hour instructor and you're sick of your job and the management, please quit. No one wants to fly with a toxic instructor.

Re: Advise on first flying job at 500 hours?
Regarding the ramp wait time. No one knows where the industry will be 6 months from now. Everyone knows the industry goes in severe boom - bust cycles. Another bust cycle is coming, it's just a matter of when. Operators if they're honest should really say "I don't know how long you'll be on the ramp...

Any way you can get a green card?
It's crazy in the states right now. You wonder how the regionals can stay financially viable given the salaries they are now forced to pay.

Re: Career Advice from a Business Guy
Unless you have work rights, leaving Canada is not an option for 90 plus percent of all Canadian pilots, unless you've got 1000s of hours on a heavy yet.

Re: Aspiring pilot looking for some advice.
I have a degree, but I'll give you my two cents. It's meaningless in aviation, except for the human resources computer at Air Canada that sorts applicants using a script. Flying an airplane is not abstract job that requires conceptual thinking. You're not writing position paper. The level of math re...

Companies that don't require a RAIC and Ageism
I'm currently flying a large multi turbo prop in a scheduled pax operation as an FO outside Canada. I'd like to return home to Canada to be close to my family, but I'm still low time (about 600 TT). I've lived outside of Canada most of my adult life. Getting a RAIC will be a major pain given the num...

I say go for it.
But remember this industry can turn on a dime, and there are no guarantees.
The economy and aviation industry are long over-due for a correction.
Just stay out of debt!

Adventure flying in 3rd wold countries
Gents, Need your advice.. I'm in my mid 40s... I've lived outside of Canada most of my adult life.... getting a RAIC pass would I'm sure be a huge PITA due to all the countries I've lived in. It would take them years to process it :-) I have no interested in AC or Westjet, etc. I'm way beyond the ge...
