Re: EI for Airline Workers

No, it's not weird - those of us that were laid off in March are in this boat. Before the CERB portal on CRA was created (early April I think) we applied for EI via the normal EI/Service Canada portal. It was then automatically switched over to CERB payments in early April.

Re: Multi ifr training hours

I don't get why people think that flying a twin is rocket science. It isn't. I went from a Group 3 to Group 1 IFR with 9 hours of multi time, including the flight tests, and this was back before Redbird sim was a thing. I had several students who did their IFR training on a single then switched to a...

Re: Brand new pilot looking for advice during COVID

About those survey jobs, or any low flying job for that matter, where do you find them ? I probably check avcanada and pilotcareercentre 4 times a day in case something pops up. Right now survey companies are likely getting flooded with resumes, so they won't be posting any jobs. (I'm sure the same...

Re: Brand new pilot looking for advice during COVID

Talk about a bad time for a career change... Joined the airforce in the years after 9/11 because there were no jobs and after 12 years as an aircraft tech, flight engineer and 2 tours I got out to "finally" be a pilot...Since there was a shortage and all...sold everything and moved back home. Well ...

Heh, I was waiting for you to come back and say that!

While I'm here - Porter is also using the CEWS program.

If you call TC Medical they have an email address listed on the voicemail. Don’t forget the E at the end of the French “civile”. They responded within a couple of days.

Re: Porter Airlines complete temporary shutdown

My brother just flew back from YQT on Porter a week ago, before the emergency was declared. Even then, the plane was only 1/3 full. On the bright side though, I'm training out of YTZ currently. No more of those pesky Dash 8's hogging the apron! (Well except that one AC flight) [EDIT] I truly apolog...

You should have received a phone call or email. If you didn’t, shoot me a PM and I’ll get you in contact with someone.

Re: Early Connection Program

Foxone, is your latest resume showing 1500h updated in the system? They have been contacting people over the last few months for interviews, it’s an ongoing process, but it has been a little slower over the past 6-7 months since turnover has been extremely slow. Maybe if you haven’t heard anything, ...

Re: Early Connection Program

MrAviator, normally interviews are not given until you’re closer to 1000, so if the latest info on RIVS is 750 that’s likely why.

Shoot me a PM and I’ll pass on a contact person for you.

Re: Early Connection Program

Hi guys, nervous first poster here :prayer: I got in the Early Connection program and it tells me to apply at 1000 hours for the FO position. On the other hand, i've heard of some friends and colleagues doing interviews way before the 1000 hours, but they weren't part of the program. I am wondering...

Re: YTZ - commuting in the GTA

We have YTZ-based pilots who commute from YQG, YAM, YOW and YUL as part of the commuting policy if you really want to stay far away! You will need a crash pad in YTZ. Most of us who do this stay probably 3-6 nights a month in Toronto, less as you get more senior and have more choice of commutable pa...

Re: Reserve Schedule

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can provide some info on the Reserve schedule at Porter. - Hoping to find out how long are new hires being held on reserve? (I read an older post that it was one month but also heard that it’s up to 8 months now) This totally depends on how hiring progresses. There wer...

Re: Will Porter hire again after May 2019

So basically no hiring until next year  ?? Can anyone confirm? There's definitely no Initial class in October. Traditionally (except for one year where we were very short) there are no classes in Nov/Dec, but so I personally don't expect a new class until the New Year. They haven't released t...

Re: Will Porter hire again after May 2019

Who knows it means that Porter could support proper applicant’s application for PR immigration? Were there any known cases? No. You have to have the right to work in Canada. Y...
