Re: No one "in between jobs"

This is for the Swiftjet posting. http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=49747 I believe the reasoning is to avoid the slew of resumes from the not so energetic pilots that have been out of work for a relatively long period of time. These types of pilots have been typically overlooked al...

Re: is 40 too old to start?

I started at 42 and around 300 hours. I did an instructors rating and got hired the day after my check ride. Mature instructors are rare and I have found age to be a benefit. Lots of places still looking for instructors.

Re: Bond for US Customs

Think I might have found my answer....Here it is in case anyone else needs the info. To obtain an International Carrier bond, you must contact an approved Surety that writes CBP bonds on a CBP Form 301. You can obtain a list of approved sureties on Treasury's Financial Management Service's Web site ...

Bond for US Customs

I am trying to find info regarding setting up the US Customs Bond to fly charters into the US. Searched on the web - no joy. Called US Customs and they confirmed I need a bond but they didn't know who to contact to set it up. Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks

Re: Wanted 100 multi time

Iceman, Given the following scenario: Two pilots both have a CPL, M/IFR, 500TT, 50 multi, 10 on type (light twin). Both want to freshen up some of their multi & IFR skills. During a flight under VMC conditions......the pilot on the left goes under the hood & the one on the right is on the look out &...

Re: Instructor lesson plan

I think it would be great to have a website where instructors new and old could exchange lesson plans. At the end of the day most instructors are trying to teach students to the best of their abilities. If that means using someone else’s plans or creating your own based on someone else's, go for it....

Grey Wolf, Couple of questions for you: 1. How many resumes have you sent out in the last month? 2. How many follow up phone calls have you made? 3. How many interviews have you had? 4. How many offers have you had? If your answers are 20,5,1,0 You aren't working hard enough at finding a job. If thi...

This company allows you to demo the full version and also offers a free version. The samsung Q1 Tablet PC looks like it would be nice for in the cockpit or on the road. http://www.seattleavionics.com/products.shtml

FLTJet

Anyone else notice the FLTJet job ad. I went to the website and found it was very similar to the one for that company that used to be in Buttonville. You know the one that used to sell PPCs. Looked at the aircraft registered to fltjet and the 2 listed both were last owned by that company out of Butt...

I too was a little nervous on my first few flights but once you have a few lessons under your belt it gets a lot easier. As a new instructor be prepared to really go to work on short final. This is the phase of flight where you need to be on a 110%. Shadow the controls and be prepared for the unexpe...

Bob, The thread was about the best place to get an Instructor Rating. Very subjective topic. Hard to give advise without it looking the an ad. To answer your questions... How long has the CFI there had his class 1? I don't know but I think he has around 2000 hours of instructing. Does he have any re...

Kawartha Lakes Flight Centre http://www.flykawarthalakes.ca/ in Lindsay isn't quite in the GTA, but they do have pretty good prices. They've also been doing the air cadet contract for the last few years and hire the people they train at least for that. You'd get to a class III pretty quick that way....

From what I have heard it is not that hard to setup an FTU in Canada. Follow the guidelines and the process and away you go. I don't believe that TC has the ability to prevent someone from starting a business providing they have their ducks in a row. The only negative comment I have heard from peopl...

You only have to pay the tax after the deal is closed. I had the seller fly a plane from the states to my home airport in Canada where the pre-purchase inspection would be done. Customs insisted that he pay on the spot. He said NO because the deal wasn’t closed and no money had changed hands yet. Af...
