Coroner recommendations.
Hey all. Long time no see! I don't know how many members remember me, or are even if any are still here. My husband died as the result of a floatplane crash way way back in 2005. I spent several years here on AvCanada learning more about the industry so that I could advocate for change in regulation...

Re: Seaplane regulation changes proposed
Hopefully Mustang will step up and design a PFD specifically for floatplanes. There could have been five men survive back in 2005. Or at least, four more men's families could have had some kind of closure. If TC had acted on repetitive recommendations from TSB, years and more years, ago. And egress ...

Nice catch, Mr. Wings! The book was featured on The Current. http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/episode/2012/10/23/the-wreckage-of-flight-402/. Some of you may also remember Ms. Shaben's award-winning article in The Walrus a few years ago. http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=59014 She is a...

Re: Beaver down off Saturna island (Updates)
Cat, do TC requirements for a seaplane endorsement really equip a pilot to fly pax here on the coast ? Shouldn't they? Of course, I'm looking at this from a completely different perspective ;) FlyGuy, in one of the accidents reviewed, the a/c sank within minutes although both floats remained attache...

I couldn't have said it better myself.Rockie wrote:The CBC is no better or worse than any other mainstream news organization when it comes to accuracy in aviation reporting. However they have made an effort to shine a light on the problems of fatigue and SMS. I haven't seen any of the others doing that.

The list does not include A05P0039, in which at least one (my husband), and probably five, men drowned after escaping their downed Beaver floatplane near Campbell River.RatherBeFlying wrote:The end of the report is a long and sad list of floatplane accidents where occupants failed to get out and drowned.
