Re: Jet fuel prices/layoffs
Seems to me like 'The wall' when it comes to fuel supply will be hitting in early July. I'm no fuel expert but from what I can tell the fuel reserves in various countries around the world will be getting to their operational minimums sometime in the next 4 weeks. That could make aviation fuel suppli...

Boeing production delays I believe Yep it looks that way, if you look at line 1325, on the Production and Disposition tab, you can see the first one is only at the Parts Arriving stage. I think it takes a minimum of 9 months from then until delivery. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1FH3Y...

Re: 2026 PIT FLEET AC
oops sorry I've been here over 3 years, I meant CMSC not PIT, should've posted on a more appropriate thread. It takes at least a year to get to YVR, bottom of the 220 list. 2-3 years to get bottom of either the 777 or 787 RP in Vancouver. I doubt you’d get a YVR position in PIT.

Anyone have predictions for Vancouver positions in the CMSC in June? I'm guessing there'll be some 787 positions.

Living in the US whilst working at AC
Just wondering if there's anyone who lives in the US under the visa waiver program and if so how do you do it?? My understanding is that as a Canadian citizen you can live in the US for 182 days out of the year. Would this mean that you would pay tax in the US or still in Canada? Appreciate any advi...

Are these the same people that own the old Discovery firefighting company (now called MAG)? If so they're great people.

Re: Jet fuel prices/layoffs
Fuel, being the biggest expense at airline will definitely affect the decision making of management. For sure, but they will just pass those costs onto the consumer with fuel surcharges. Those surcharges won't put the cost of a ticket up by that much, what's an extra $20 per ticket if you want a va...

Re: Jet fuel prices/layoffs
Anyone here predict that the increase in the price of jet will trigger reductions and eventual layoffs? I doubt the cost of jet fuel will cause layoffs directly, however if the Hormuz situation goes on for another couple of months the cost to the world economy could. Increasing prices of Liquid Gas...

On a slightly different topic is it just me or does anyone else think the use of French by ATC in Quebec is a bit of a safety issue?
I totally understand the history that has made Quebec a mostly French speaking part of the world but that always seems a bit unsafe to me

I've never used one of the bunks but to be honest the curtained off J seat isn't that bad. It might be worse if it was a longer flight but for going to Europe it's fine.Crew rest in in a curtained off J seat which is bush league but is what it is.

Any 220 YVR guys,
What are the routes/destinations you do most? I'm considering moving over from the east.
Thanks for any replies.

Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair
I question the logic of depending on something that has been repeatedly shown to be unreliable. Out of curiosity do you think it's the strike that's proven unreliable or the government stepping in and stopping the strike? If the government didn't interfere like that the strike would probably be qui...

It's not 'a game' if you genuinely want to change base. Other than that though yes you are correct. If you play a game and bid another base to get a downbid during your initial 30 month freeze it's a new 30 month freeze.

Plus by the time you get the position awarded you're 6 months or a year in, and then you train in another 6 months or year, then you're frozen again for 2 or 3 years and stuck from going anywhere... 787 FO opens up with the deliveries? You're frozen. NB CA schedules and pay look better with daily g...

I think you underestimate the power and sway the government and the company have, aswell the extreme pressure of hundreds of thousands of stranded canadians trying to get home. Especially when both the company and government are unified against the employees. Exactly this. I've got a lot of respect...

What if your toronto based, but you live in Montreal. Or Vancouver based but you live in Calgary? Should they still get a pay raise? It would depend soley on where you're based. If you're based in YYZ but you want to commute from Fort Whogivesashit in the Yukon then that's up to you. The point is i...

And also, there are no RPs out there that have 8 weeks of training. They have years and years of flignt training and have held multiple jobs to aquire thousands of flight hours before they could even apply for that job. it's a bad comparison. Not to forget the RP does the same training and tests as...

Agreed to by CUPE National without a vote from the employee group. I believe the union was basically told by the government if you drop this now we will not push for jail time or fines. The Union at that point probably felt they could not go on defying the corrupt sh*t from the government and mostl...
