Re: 1900D to mainline or regionals?

All good advice. As someone who has thousands of hours on a 1900, it is a great plane and will provide you some invaluable PIC time eventually. However, you have clearly said your goal is to be at an airline. Seniority is EVERYTHING. Take the jobs that will get you to WJ/AC/Porter the fastest and f...

Re: Hand flying Cirrus

Thanks for the detailed comments. Really helpful. I am in the east. I agree with your target airplane, too. The other choice I have considered would be a Bonzana, nice to hand fly but no deicing options at all. (Maybe there are some out there with TKS, I don’t know) The age of some of the legacy tr...

Re: Hand flying Cirrus

From what I hear factory support from Cirrus is quite good. That been said not all AMO's have composite aircraft experience so you don't want to pay for their learning curve. Maintenance costs seems to be reasonable although since the aircraft has no nose wheel steering brake wear has been an issue...

Re: Hand flying Cirrus

I have a couple thousand hours flying Cirrus, every model except for the Jet. At first I really didn't like the airplane, but after some time it really grew on me. The airplane was not designed to be hand flown, but engaging the AP at 600 feet and leaving it on until back to 500 feet on final. That ...

Re: The Reserve Life

It's becoming a lot less than 6 years on reserve now. I would say more like 1-2 with the current movement. Lot of people will still leave for AC, even more so once the new contract comes out there due to the (not changing) 10-15 year upgrades at WJ. Just get in and get your seniority number, worry ...

Re: Who should pay for the extra seat for large passengers?

There is a middle ground answer. They should be required to pay for two seats at the time of booking, but when the doors close and there are still unsold seats then they get a refund on the extra seat. If you need a seatbelt extender or the armrest can't go down then you are required to pay for an e...

Not sure where you live but have you looked at other local companies, there are operators out there where you can be home every night.

Saw it today sitting on the ramp outside the Avitat. I took a picture but on my phone and through the fence, not a good picture, sorry.

Ps, same paint and everything, you wouldn't know the difference if you didn't count the windows.

Re: Forgetting to do eAPIS

Good luck trying to explain to any authority that you "forgot" to file an eAPIS. Local charter operators that misspelt a name or got a digit wrong on a passport number eat all kinds of fines and grief, and you forgot to file one altogether? Lay low and beg forgiveness if they ever come calling, but...

Re: Forgetting to do eAPIS

A lot of mis-information on here. Yes they do care about departure reports just as much as arrival. The big difference is there is a Customs officers on your arrival, no such agent on the departure. I missed an exit filing in the first year. I remembered the next day, figured it was too late and for...

Aren't the Hawk's and Harvard's also owned by a civilian company/Allied Wings?
