Fallen Snowbirds
It is truely sad to hear about Capt. Shawn McCaughey of the Canadian Snowbirds. All the best to his family and fellow teammates. The Snowbirds are a world class aerobatic team, and represent Canada and Canadians abroad. They make us all proud, and inspire thousands upon thousands of people, young an...

Apparently an A-380 landed in Iqaluit today. They're doing some sort of cold weather testing on the aircraft. Anyone see it, or hear anything else?

Tropical Flying
Just curious about you people out there that have been flying in tropical areas. Where? With what organization? What's it like? Mostly on floats? How do you enjoy it? Is there any disadvantage to the hours you achieve working in the tropics when you come back to Canada (I just mean...how will employ...

http://www.borekair.com/gallery/maldives/m8.JPG This looks like a lot of fun. This company seems to be very diverse. Flying on the coast, flying up north, flying in the Maldives...On Wheels, on floats, on skiis!!! These are all places I would LOVE to fly!!! The aircraft look like pretty sweet too (...

Thanx for the comments guys...keep em coming! As for employment, they have just finished hiring a bunch of low-timers and have now announced they require minimum 1500hrs for F/O's, and Captains prefer over 3000hrs for contract requirements Just curious how low the "low-timers" were...roughly? Also c...

kenn borek pilots out there?
Hey everyone. I was just wondering if there are any Borek pilots on here? If so, can you tell us a bit about working for KBA? What kind of flying you mostly do, and where you've been able to fly? If any of you have been to the Maldives...tell us about that! Looks like a lot of fun! Also just curious...

CAF Herc Pilots Flying in Afganastan
Hey, I'm just curious if there are any of the CAF Herc Pilots on Avcanada? My understanding is they are based out of the Ramstein air base in Germany. I'd love to hear what it's like flying in and out of Afganastan (air drops and stuff like that). I hear that as soon as they come flying into Afganas...

just curious if any of you guys out there have got jobs on floats anywhere with just your 7 hour endorsement? I imagine there aren't to many of you, but I'm just curious. I know a lot of people start out working the dock and then move their way up (how long of a process is that usually, and how do t...

CAF Pilots on the ground
Just curious as to what kinds of things our military pilots are doing when they're not flying? My understanding is that everyone is given a second duty to take care of. As well, there is a lot of briefings and debriefings in the day to day schedule.

Hornet.....and....Superhornet?
Hey. Just curious as to the difference between the two? I'm guessing, but the hornet is the F-18 (CF-18 in canada) and the superhornet is F/A-18...not to sure about that. Visually, I noticed that the intake on the superhornet is square-ish, while the hornets intake is round-ish. Is the superhornet r...

Life in CF Bases/Towns
I'm just curious what it's like living in CF Bases throughout Canada. I don't really just mean "on base", since I'm sure most people live in the towns surrounding the bases. Is the atmosphere in these communities different from others? Examples: Portage la prarie, Moose Jaw, Cold Lake, Comox, Greenw...

Pro IFR INRAT Course???
Pro IFR has a 3 day course for preparing students for the INRAT. I'm considering doing the course, but it cost $375!!!! And each day is very, very, very long.....something like 8-11 hours I think. Since it cost so much money, I would like to make sure it's well worth it. Can any of you that have tak...
