I enjoy "Aviation News Talk". I find it's consistently good quality.
I've listened to a couple "Flying BC" episodes and it was decent. I should download more of these.

Re: ADSB diversity update?
Is there an official document on what NavCanada's future (or previous) plans are? No. Yes, there is. https://www.navcanada.ca/EN/products-and-services/pages/level-of-service-completed-studies.aspx Fourth one down on that page. In the document that the link opens are links to both the terms of refer...

Re: ADSB diversity update?
I would not make any avionics choices based on rumours about NavCanada's future plans. Look at the current requirements and published future requirements and go with that. NavCanada has NO published current or future requirements for ADS-B outside of MNPS airspace. However if you are looking for ru...

Re: ADSB diversity update?
Yeah the tailbeacon x is an interesting possibility. But that's if it gets approved. It would sure save a bunch of money.

ADSB diversity update?
Hi everybody, does anybody have any updated information about the ADS-B diversity requirements? Based on the last article I read (I believe it was COPA 2019), phase 1 starts today Jan 2021 this is for class A airspace. Phase 2 includes class B airspace and apparently will start 1 year from now. The ...

Re: What to expect buying insurance?
Thanks for the replies. I had no expectations that it would be cheap. I am disappointed that this time delay seems common but I guess it is what it is. On a philosophical level, all these barriers are concerning for the long-term feasibility of those of us doing this for fun. No, delays like this a...

Re: What to expect buying insurance?
No idea how much it would cost for a single flight, but getting insurance nowadays is getting really hard. Took me 3 weeks to get me a quote for renewal of my airplane insurance, the advertised timeframe was 3 business days. No accidents or claims. I thought I'd shop around, and nobody else even wa...

What to expect buying insurance?
Hi everybody. I'm trying to make sure my expectations are realistic for insurance. This is my first plane. I'm looking to buy insurance for a single ferry flight. It is for a certified aircraft with valid C of A etc. The flight is ~1.5 hours and would be flown by a very qualified pilot. I requested ...

Re: School me on hangars
Yeah I'm not thrilled with the prospect of sharing a hangar with many other planes. Both because I don't want the hassle of being blocked in the back, and I don't want others inflicting hangar rash on my plane. I inquired at one hangar that wanted $1000/month for a shared hangar with 10-12 other pla...

School me on hangars
Hi everybody, I will require a hangar for a new plane coming in a couple months. I'm contemplating renting vs buying. Most of my questions are related to buying a hangar. I understand that they are typically land leases from the airport with monthly fees and a determined term on the lease. I realize...
