There is a lot to be gained working as an FO on a bigger aircraft. Yep, right until your chance for an upgrade comes along, and the boss upgrades the guy with the multi-piston PIC. Have fun with that. I've seen this scenario over and over. The boss doesn't care what you got your multi pic on nearly...

I know some guys that started there a few years ago, and were taking home $750 every two weeks. I know of several guys who had to cash in RRSPs just to cover daily living expenses. You can spout all the garbage you want about profit sharing, stock options, etc. Simple fact is I know at least 10 peo...

Re: Federal Reserve's Ben Bernanke is Time's person of the yr.
From Wiki: "Time's most famous feature throughout its history has been the annual "Person of the Year" (formerly "Man of the Year") cover story, in which Time recognizes the individual or group of individuals who have had the biggest effect on the year's news. Despite the title, the recipient is not...

I'm not positive how it works for recip, but the new rules for us flying standby is if we miss a flight, we no longer get automatically credited for the missed flight. But, if you call the standby number again, and give them your PNR they wil refund or give you a credit file. The onus is on the stan...

Re: Westjet Service going down hill fast
Use you lower seat mile cost to offer cheaper seats and more comfortable aircraft to entice passengers. Combined with WJ perceived lowering of service standards this shouldn't be to difficult. Actually just wait until WJ passengers experience the "comfort" of the 737 for all those hours and they wi...

Re: Westjet Service going down hill fast
Actually thats not a valid question. Larger aircraft have a lower seat mile cost than smaller aircraft of the same vintage, so price should be cheaper on the larger aircraft. So then we're back to comfort. And if you can't fill the larger airplane because of the lack of demand for that many seats i...

Hi Four1oh, While I do think your suggestion was constructive, there are reasons why it does not - or should not - always play out that way. Sometimes there are things in a thread which should not be seen, for various reasons, and so a lock would be inappropriate. I do, however, agree completely th...

Not to be picky on the VSI tip, but if you don't have a good scan on a black hole departure, you stand a good chance of killing yourself. To say the VSI is the most important instrument could have the greenhorns glued to it instead of maintaining their scan. Pitch is also crucial because of the acc...

I believe the original pairings were built by hand, but the system was eventually worked into the Wings bidding system we use. The ports are an evolution, a work in progress so to speak, and we are currently reviewing how we operate them... more to come by spring from the sounds of it.
