Other variables would be the energy absorbed by the car. The bumper would absorb a lot as would the crumple zone if it got that far so you can't just figure out a straight momentum calculation. cpl-atc: I'm told that Westjet's top salary for a 73 captain is 150K. AC's top A320 pay is $166/hour. Multiplied by 80 hour months = 160K. Since the A320 is a bit bigger than the 73, the pay is basically the same. CYYZ: Westjet pilots also get medical benefits et al. As for the pension, you're right...

your facts may be accurate cpl-atc, but pilot salaries are not the cause of the difference in cost per seat mile.
