Re: Notice: Effective July 1, 2024, Vertical Forums will be officially shut down

I have no idea.. I wasn't high enough on the food chain to be privy to any of that sort of info... Maybe it will survive under new ownership. I rejoined vertical after a very long hiatus and just recently on as of a few weeks ago. What spam were you talking about? Or did you clear it before it was ...

Re: Notice: Effective July 1, 2024, Vertical Forums will be officially shut down

Some of you on here will know me as twinnie, one of the moderators on the Vertical site. I found out about the closure the same way you did. I've been a member of Vertical for over 20 years, don't remember how many as a mod. It wasn't just the few who f***ed it for all of us, the number of spam mem...

Re: AME shortage?

I'm wondering if you could give me some examples of where an AME working on a private airplane was held liable for damage. What situations are you worried about? Most liabilities I can think off, exist in pretty much any profession. Same for insurance. You know its funny, I do not have any examples...

Re: Employer Reviews

Can’t agree more. However, I believe it should go 2 ways. Employers should be able to post about employees that can’t do their job or keep their word. I don’t believe employers have anything that keeps them doing this. They never sign an NDA with employees. I have worked alongside a lot of people t...

Okay, that sucks. But if he was found not at fault, then insurance wouldn't make a huge difference. Everyone can be sued. Even employees. Doesn't mean you'll be found at fault, but you'll still be stressed out. Once could even say that it's more likely to be sued if you're insured for 100 M in liab...

"We will be back into Calgary probably in the spring or fall of 2023," said Bureau, though he says that depends on the airline's ability to add new aircraft to its fleet. I think return spring 2023 will pass, maybe he meant 2024? Canada Jetlines currently has two Airbus A320s — an all-economy jet w...

Re: Working on a C registered aircraft in the states

My thread has actually started some good conversation. I don't come here as often as I used too. I feel like most people are thinking that I want to live down in the states and work on a C reg aircraft (maybe it has a contract down there of sorts). That's not what I'm getting at. I'm curious if my ...

Re: Business flying slowing down?

I did my due diligence about possibly working at a few management companies, I dropped the subject but they always seem to be hiring particularly one larger one. Are they really growing that fast or is it just high turnover area of the industry?

This thread is a great read, how the heck are you signing private stuff without an amo anyways? Do you just sign a release in the journey log and that’s it? The cars state anything under part four or seven needs an amo, so just private aircraft. I still couldn’t imaging signing some private guys jal...

If anyone was smart.. they’d shrewdly negotiate an hourly/overtime rate, delegation of duties/on-call, schedule, days off, and vacation/PTO Management positions at smaller companies burn people out which is why they need to advertise for them. If your working with that much PRC where you need big red to help you, you should probably find a different line of work. Back in the day you’d use like 3 or 4 sim kits a year and that was enough to tell you that PRC sucks. That’s not a fair statement, in R&O we use more than that on a rebuild or c...

Re: Hours of Averaging

Short of farming or commercial fishing etc this arrangement should be illegal. Again it’s one of those things bad employers use to work you to death and pay you as minimally as possible. Hours of averaging in aviation = Bad employer.
