Re: Any planned hiring this year?
A reduction bid just means they are fat in some bases and skinny in others. Screenshot_20250222_191336_Slack.jpg Do we even have any hint on what the alignment will be? Im expecting to be on the short end of the stick in terms of being pushed out of my base, and im starting to think about a game pl...

AEROCOURSE
Im going to be taking the aerocourse to prep for my upcoming ATPL exams. I was hoping to get an understanding of what is covered throughout the few days. Do they focus on the content of the exam? Or more so on how to respond and dissect the questions that you can expect to get?

5th Edition of Aerocourse workbook
Currently studying for the SAMRA but have been using the 5th edition as I bought it for the IATRA a few years back.
Is it still an adequate source to study? Or should the 6th edition be used since I know thats been released.
TIA.

RHO/RHO - RHO/THETA Questions on SAMRA
Firstly, does someone have a way to dumb these down a little bit? I simply can't wrap my head around what these are/or do. Besides the fact that one is DME/DME and one is VOR/DME. Secondly, any idea if these are still brought up on the SAMRA? Trying to decide if I should dedicate time to understandi...

Claiming a bond repayment?
Has anyone had success at listing a training bond repayment as an employment expense for their taxes? If so how is this looked at by the CRA? Genuinely curious as I've gotten mixed answers from them.

Lost a RAIC. Will i have issues applying for a new one?
I recently lost my RAIC, and was unable to find it before leaving the job. It was classified at Failed To Return. It was reported lost with the issuing office.
Im starting a new 705 job in a few weeks that needs a RAIC from a different airport. Will i have issues applying for a new one?

Re: Dealing with Civil Aviation Medicine
I guess heres an update on what ended up happening. After i got my initial emergency treatment, and had my medical verbally revoked by my CAME, I started all of my required follow up treatment for the condition that I had. I essentially harassed the TC office to try and get an answer on what needed ...

Re: New hire bids
Does anvone know the status of the pool? I know its dependant on class sizes and experience. I'm in it, with several hundred Multi-Crew turbine and over 1000TT. Im guessing classes are Oct 31 (full), Nov 21, Dec 12 if they run one over Christmas. But its tough to tell as I know they shifted their hi...

Re-Scheduling Online Interview
Hey everyone! Last week I scheduled an online interview through RIVS for 2 months down the road. I was told that sometimes earlier dates pop up, and to use the “Reschedule” button to check RIVS every so often for earlier openings. Does anyone know if clicking the reschedule option just to view openi...

SARON + SAMRA study resources
Outside of the obvious answer of Aerocourse and the Weather Manual, whats the next best study tool for the A’s? I personally liked the design of NIZUS when I studied for the IATRA, with how they give you a direct reference to the information with each question. It allowed me to solve my own personal...

IATRA Question: Req’d climb gradient
I was hoping someone could quote me the correct/up to date answer from the CARS or AIM for the IATRA study topic discussing climb gradients for multi-engined airplanes. I have seen two different answers, and have not been able to find anything super recent. One source says: 2.4 degree gradient for t...

Dealing with Civil Aviation Medicine
Has anyone ever dealt with Civil Aviation Medicine?
I just submitted a report of some serious care that I got recently that as per my CAME, I unfortunately need to wait for approval to fly again.
Does anyone know how long it takes for them to review files?

Do people still drive cross country to drop off resume's?
I've heard plenty of stories about how young pilots would drive across the country to drop off resume's in search of their first job, or during times of trouble where jobs are hard to come by. Is this something that's still done? Would love to hear some success and unsuccessful stories to learn the ...

Whens an appropriate time to include a cover letter in an application?
Obviously when asked you would include it, but would you include it when not specifically requested? What are the thoughts of sending the cover letter in the body of the email?

How do you value yourself as a low time pilot?
We are in a time right now where of the few jobs that are available, we have to fight for them. Sure, a low time pilot may not have as much experience compared to someone with 5000-6000 hours, but they still went through the same process of training, put in the same amount of effort, and many have t...

Re: IATRA Advice
I write tomorrow so I can't tell you what i'll get. But I can tell you that when I started studying for this, it was my first time reviewing the material in a year since a lot of it was similar to CPL stuff. NIZUS was great because it gave you direct references to the AIM so you could find the expla...
