Re: Not an AC employee, using ZEDs - any easy way to list?
I'm in the same boat and no easy fix. Call centre has gotten much better over the past year with significantly shorter wait times. Calling another countries Air Canada number can shorten the wait time as well.

Re: Expat jobs
I love Hong Kong but it's not for everyone. The city is polluted, crowded and can be very expensive. To rent a flat you will need to come up with 2 months rent for a deposit as well as first months rent. If you have kids, schooling can be expensive and it is difficult to find space in the lower grad...

Re: Captain X,Y & Z or A,B & C (CX)
I had the most up to date book back in 2005 and found a lot of the questions to be very dated( INS, LORAN C, L1011 questions). I went through PPRUNE and wrote down all the questions that people had posted from their experiences and used that as my primary study guide. Spend just as much time on the ...

Re: New Cathay Pacific Deal
The housing and the forgivable loan are the 2 changes to the Second Officer package. An S/O hired on the old package would receive 14000hkd/month cash or rental assistance of abouth 30000hkd/month. After 2 years the cash amount went up to 18000hkd and the rental assistance to over 60 000hkd/month. T...

Jazz use to run YHZ-YYR on the Dash. Flight time was somewhere around 2:30-2:45 if memory serves me right.

Re: qol question
At the end of the day every job has a level of sacrifice and it ultimately depends on what makes you happy in your home life. I fly for an overseas major, but live in Canada. I'm away 12-13 days a month which can be tough at times but I love the other 17-18 days that I'm home which I can fully dedic...

Once in a Dash 8 because the autofeather didn't arm and once in a navajo because we hit a snow drift.

Re: How did you start up...? EVERYONE TRY AND POST
One year at uni then to the local flight school. 2 years training plus working an all most full time job to help pay. Instructed for 2.5 years. Flew Navajo's and Metro's for 3 years. Got on with one of Jazz's predecessors which then turned into Jazz. Master plan was to jump to AC but the bankruptcy ...

Re: Instructing Vs. Northern Time
The best thing to do is pick a path which you feel you will enjoy. One is not better than the other. I have friends who did the ramp thing and I have friends who did the instructing thing and amazingly enough they all made it to the same level in their careers in similar time frame and were of simil...

Re: Cathay Pacific
The interview process is very straight forward and is certainly not rocket science. They are looking to see if you will fit in, can fly a plane and are trainable. The first interview is a 30 question tech exam. Believe it or not the first 30 or so pages of "from the ground up" would get you over hal...
