Re: 67% yes

As a year 2 WB FO I'm actually pleased with the result. Year 3-4 are a 100% pay increase vs the old CA, and brings much better per diems, better reserve rules, better insurances, a 20k back pay for year 1, etc. All that while working 10 days a month. You cannot expect to gain absolutely everything ...

Re: How will you spend your ratification pay?

With that attitude, you'll soon find yourself alone on the flight deck and it will be your own fault for not valuing the guy beside you. The next move of the airlines when they can't fill classes... "the FOs only made 1/5 of what you made anyway, we will give you a bit more and you'll fly alone". I...

Re: 67% yes

I mentioned this before time to move on. If you’re frustrated with how things went join ALPA …..change the world. I was looking at the 787 CPT wages at both AC and Westjet and maybe someone can correct me. AC 389.96/hr + overseas approx 17/hr WJ 335.25/hr Seems to be a sizable difference when you a...

Re: How will you spend your ratification pay?

For those that do leave, our flight decks are better off. Good riddance. With that attitude, you'll soon find yourself alone on the flight deck and it will be your own fault for not valuing the guy beside you. The next move of the airlines when they can't fill classes... Re: Relief Pilot hour logging

Of course you log all the hours  You just dont log take off and landing.

When you are operating a flight as ÇA,FO or RP, you log everything.

It's only for line indoc purposes that you log 66% for 3 crew and 50% for 4 crew.

Re: BEWARE $30,000 BOND FOR 3 YRS

I flew for TS for 5 years and made the switch to AC. I understand, from a business point of view, why they bond pilots. Is it wrong ? Yes. But I understand why the management does it. Either way there's a reason why pilots leave for AC; because of job stability, flexibility, money and prestige. No ...

Re: Is being Relief Pilot detrimental to career

Absolutely it is detrimental. The type rating is useless and you aren't flying anymore and building your piloting skill set. As you mentioned it makes you much less marketable to other airlines too. Wow…really?! I guess if Air Canada is only a stepping stone for another job (which is usually pretty...

Re: Is being Relief Pilot detrimental to career

You just have to be a good pilot and stay in the loop and review your stuff on a regular basis. Of course if you don't pay attention and don't care to any of the pre flight, approach and landing stuff, never open a book, etc. and just start focusing in cruise, then it might be harder once you bid le...

Re: Air Canada vs Air Transat

As an ex Transat guy there is no doubt the money is better at AC, both salary and pension wise. You also get better job security and flexibility (can bid NB FO, WB FO, NB CA, WB CA, etc.) at any time in your career, which is a big deal. You don't necessarily want to do the Caribbean every winter and...

Re: Pros and Cons btw FO and RP?

When you start and are BOTL, WB RP is better than any WB or NB FO position, unless you like bad pairings and destinations (NB FO), reserve for years (WB FO), unproductive flying (both NB/WB FO). But, as an FO you get to fly a plane for 2 minutes before you turn on the auto pilot... and don't worry, ...

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?

How many classes per month can we expect? As summer is approaching, do they freeze classes until the fall? Just got the background check last week. Interviewed mid February. Medical 1 week later. So technically anything from 2 weeks to a month I assume to hear back after the background check is com...

Re: Is Onex sniffing around?

Are you suggesting that the Canadian government is willing to help out the industry by reducing interest rates for all airlines? Or perhaps looking at ways to reduce fees to improve the health of the industry? That would be amazing if true, but I'm not holding my breath. I love Air Transat, it is a...

Re: Is Onex sniffing around?

The stock market agrees, seems more concerned about your debt. Current share price TRZ 3.08 with a market cap of 119.4 million, AC 17.98 with a market cap of 6.49 Billion That doesn't mean anything. AC stock was 50$+ pre pandemic. Yes it was and why do you think that was? Ohhh it’s because they had...

Re: Is Onex sniffing around?

Question .. why is Transat’s debt such a concern to people on this forum? I’m not disputing that it’s an issue and it obviously needs to be addressed, but AC has a $16 billion dollar debt that doesn’t seem to bother anyone. I’m looking for informed answers, not snarky remarks fyi. The stock market ...

Re: Is Onex sniffing around?

I can't see the value for Onex, unless a sweetheart deal is reached to significantly reduce the approximately $1.7 Billion in debt that Transat carries. Do you really think a corporation that buys another corporation does it only when it’s debt free ? There are no airline debt free. AC has many bil...

Re: How long until you hear back from AC?

If you’re not bearing back after 3 weeks from the interview date, just know that they have placed you in a pool of low hours or low competitiveness. They’re getting back to people with lots of hours, command, teaching, degree…etc way faster than those who are at or slightly above the minimum requir...

I see the job ad has been going up consistently since Dec. Asking for 2000hrs and some turboprop/jet exp. What kind of time do you actually need to get a call? What level of experience have the past few GS been? Not sure what hiring experience has been like. But I will comment that if you’re close ...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Hi guys, Just wondering what’s a typical schedule at AC. Amounts of days OFF, how many pilots end up doing reserve every single month for a year, lots of overnights (?), deadheads (?), etc. Also wondering how many pilots they forecast on hiring in 2023 ? Any signs of slowing down? Is there a way to...
