Re: Flight training failures
> Isn't that why schools have senior instructors do supervisory flights? But what if the assessment is rushed, because the senior instructor, second in command, Class 1, has "more important" things to do? Example: Engine failure test from 1500' instead of the regulation 3000' I was then failed becau...

Okotoks Airpark is the only residential park I'm aware of in the Calgary area. I am not sure what the status is. Wonderful little airport, very poorly managed, with a bizarre group of home owners and changing rules.

Re: Rottnest Island Cessna Caravan Seaplane Crash
So, as an ex-float pilot with a whole 35 hours of float experience. Why, oh why, would the pilot try and and drag it off like that? Am I correct in seeing that as soon as they got out ground effect they stalled and flopped over? I'm with the OP on the value of this video. There is another video of a...

Re: Select Aviation Bush Pilot Program (Advice for an aspiring pilot)
Dryden Flying Club used to (2015) have a float plane available for members use/rental. If they still do I would explore getting your 7 hour ticket there and then renting until you have 50 hours. There is another company based out of Gimili that also used to rent a 172 on floats. Of course, Northern ...

Our favourite is Murray's in High Level, but we trust both Stealth and Klarenbach in YBW. We use Stealth more frequently, not sure why.

I know this area well. 100 of my 300 hours are mountain time. I would never have gone past Ghost Lake with that weather. I hope I would have stayed on the ground to begin with.

I think the PNF did pretty good. Twice he caught problems with how the other pilot was handling the aircraft while he was busy dealing with other dangers and risks.
Now, my opinion of the the PF is very different.

Is it save to fly(and land) the C172 if there is a wind shear (almost entirely headwind) of 40 kts reported at 500ft AGL? Yes If so, is there anything that I need to look out for when doing a power-off 180 approach? Yes, don't do it. Power off in a wind shear situation is a place you never want to ...

I would commit to flying once during each period of time off. Have a training/practice schedule for the flight. Then if you want to fly more, do it.
