Re: We are in the perfect storm

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure WJ does not hedge their fuel. They've been paying current market price and are still turning a profit. If oil hit's $200 a barrel I think we all better consider a new profession!

Re: JAZZ sold?

Well said Ourkid.

Tony....if I wasn't such a gentleman I might call you a douche bag. Sure glad I don't have to sit next to you.

I think a little less time on this forum and a lot more time in "reality" would do you some good.

Re: JAZZ sold?

If you've been paying attention, you wouldn't belittle the importance of commuting and its intricacies. Once again tony your arrogance has gotten the better of you. Before you make ignorant comments, pull your finger out and take a look at my post. Never once did I belittle the importance of commut...

Re: JAZZ sold?

What a joke this thread is. Just goes to show you AS ALWAYS, pilots are our own worst enemy. Changing the employee travel scheme will only be an advantage to a small percentage of people, and a disadvantage to a large number of Mainline employees who commute on Jazz. How about focusing on issues tha...

2009

A couple quick questions... Just wondering what issues might be discussed with the new pilot agreement in 2009. I heard a rumor the association may ask for a slight increase in the First & Second year FO salary. Is there any truth to this? Also, is Westjet planning on having an employee travel websi...

Re: Jazz to AC

I really don't want to jump into this mess but here goes...... Why did Jazz enter CCAA the same time as Air Canada? Because we were owned fully by AC at the time. Why did Jazz pilots have to take cuts to keep the AC family (ACE) alive? Because we were owned fully by AC at the time. Will we really b...

Really a sad day for everyone involved! I've flown Aloha many times, and always enjoyed the experience. Best of luck to all their employees.

Haven't heard anything about interviews. I did hear a rumor from several sources that they were planning on hiring a higher percentage of Jazz pilots.

Mainline interviews

Has anyone heard if or when mainline will be conducting interviews for Jazz pilots again?

I don't believe the interview itself is disrespectful. The fact that they've kept some prospective candidates on the hook for up to six months after they've completed the recruitment process is disrespectful of any company. Air Canada or not.

It's definitely the worst paying job I've had in aviation. Not a bad place to work, but it's tough looking at your bank account when you're ending up in the red every month! My take home is around $2000 per month after a year. Perdiems are around $650-800 a month. You really can't count perdiems as ...

Does anyone have any info on JALways 747 positions based in Honolulu? I've heard they sometimes hire Canadians through Wasinc or Hawaii Aviation. Any info would be appreciated....thanks!

Guys, just for your info...they do give you a drug test at Jazz. It's a piss test, and they tell you about it when you arrive for your initial medical eval. EyeOh, I wouldn't stress over second hand smoke.

Combined list.....?

Can anyone from AC or Jazz shed some light on this "combined pilot list" that's been a popular topic of conversation lately? What effect will it have on the pilot groups from each company? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Honestly folks, this is why aviation has turned to shit. We've really lost sight of the big picture. We're now flying larger aircraft for less money than ever before! The pay at Jazz is embarassing, and to think we might one day be flying an Embraer for 32K a year makes me feel ill! I hope both side...

Not sure if they are planning a ground school in December due to holidays etc, but they are definitely planning on hiring ten a month for the foreseeable future. I'd count on them scheduling a course for early Jan. There's vacancies at most bases.
