It would be helpful if only legitimate WJ pilots eligible to vote would complete this poll, but of course it's open to anyone on the internet

Re: Should WestJet management pilots side with the CEO & company, or their pilot coworkers?
They already made that choice when they signed on as Management pilots.
It's business, not personal. Just part of their job now.

We gave the 72 hour notice to strike. They locked us out. I'm so proud of our entire MEC & LEC. All the volunteers, all the hours spent away from loved ones. Thank you so much for seeing this through and for standing up for our profession. This is so much bigger than just WJ pilots. This is for ALL ...

Air Canada earnings
This certainly favours the pilot's position. Air Canada boosts earnings outlook for 2023, citing strong demand and traffic Air Canada hiked its earnings outlook Thursday, saying it expects earnings to rise owing to an improvement in traffic as well as stronger-than-anticipated demand and lower-than-...

Re: Don't be a scab
Yes they will. And some flights will likely be sub-chartered to other companies. Is it possible that management will operate some flights?
"Some" meaning maybe a fraction of a percent of what's normal. The overall effect will be like a fart in the wind.

AVH (WJ) We would rather the airline be smaller than pay pilots more.
RI (AA) We will match and/or exceed Delta compensation.

Re: Recruiting Video
The 3 WJ employees in the video are specifically union reps. They would never have used regular line pilots for a video like this. The union is protected from certain company actions through indemnities. Similar to how the union can post "Heritage Moment" memes on Telegram without fear of retributio...
Re: Be Ready
Why did arbitration happen back in 2018? How can it be avoided? There's also a completely different MEC this time around. The original MEC was friendly with the company, whereas this current MEC is extremely militant. Could westjet even afford a strike or lockout for more then a week? I imagine jus...

The WestJet Master Executive Council, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), says it has filed a requ...

Re: Westjet MEC is imploding
Calm down. The MEC is not imploding. Recalls are a healthy part of any union. The Chair & Vice Chair (good people, valuable service) have stepped down without being recalled and two new members have already been chosen to replace them. We've basically kept a strong pro-pilot MEC in place, just a swa...

Re: More WJ layoffs
It should be painfully clear to WestJet pilots by now that they were let down by a few individuals who did not even trust them and made the decision for them as benevolent kings do for their subjects. Ummm, ok Westjet pilots flying in April and onwards are now being paid FULL PAY for their position...

Re: United Airlines hiring goals
From Tucker Carlson, April 7: United Airlines is mandating affirmative action quotas in its flight schools. This is a big change for the country. When Coca-Cola embraces some equity scheme, you can understand why: they’re hoping that by hiring more Black executives, no one will ask how many Black Am...

Re: Sick Bank
Lol. Talk about a fishing expedition.... Oops, was it that obvious? Yes, I'm the company, fishing to see if we need to negotiate an LOU to deter pilots from all calling in sick over Xmas. Or, can we get away with keeping the worst sick time agreement in the industry. I see now it's clear that pilot...

Re: Passenger levels going through Toronto
Still pretty quiet, I flew as a passenger out of T3 to Mexico in late October and other people were few and far between. The biggest issue is the lack of stuff open for purchase prior to flight (unless you like Tims) so maybe bring some food & bev with you beforehand. I experienced zero delays in ei...

Re: Question for the float/bush pilots!
That's awesome beaverpuq! I'm really hoping the bush operators get in a good year in 2021. As tough as it was somedays, looking back, I wouldn't trade my time in NW Ontario for anything different. Best years of my career, learned more in 2 years than I would have in 10 had I not gone that route. All...

I know the Westjet contractWho ever tells you to use em or lose them doesn't know the contract
Sick Bank
I'm a laid off guy, just wondering what's happening with the sick bank program? As 120hrs is the max, are guys planning to use some of those hours prior to the New Year, or just prefer to forfeit them? I can tell you, my unused sick hours are useless to me right now. I can't use them, and I didn't r...

Re: The Perils of pursuing an airline pilot career
As quickly as it all unraveled, it could "almost" return just as fast. Prior to the pandemic, we were legitimately short of pilots here in Canada. If it's truly what you want to do in life, I'd say go for it. Best of luck!
