Re: Carbon tax announced December 2020
This screams I don't understand how the world stage works. So smart guy, tell me why it is so vital to send my tax dollars to other countries then? I am waiting! We play on a world stage so good image is important for things like trade deals. Wars are bad for everyone. Canadians are generally prett...

Re: Ontario Stay Home Order coming in.
I've been monitoring Covid19 death stats since March, 2020. Percentage of people who contract Covid19 that die?.. 2% It is a statistical constant. Yes..steady, around 2%. Yup. 2% of humans who contract Covid19 die. 90% of those "victims" are 78-years of age and older. The Covid19 death-rate is no w...

Re: Carbon tax announced December 2020
No tax dollars should be leaving Canada, for any reason. Spend it all in Canada, helping repair our roads, infrastructure, etc. Then lower taxes slowly over time, because we have fixed up things at home, instead of sending money to other countries. This screams I don't understand how the world stag...

Re: Question about landing technique
We will all just have to agree to disagree! And as a side note, duh its a twin, but still going to lose power and suddenly dip when losing one. And I've flown on helijet, not even 1 of the 4 pilots impressed me at all. Accepting mediocrity, and crashes so long as nobody is killed, is just not my sty...

Damn, didn't even try to fly that plane. I was expecting to see it glide to earth...not fall like a rock. Apparently he was getting his hair done the day they taught engine(s) out landing. Dead stick is not really his forte!

Re: Retirement Dreams
This subject came up one day a couple of months ago, while a group of pilots were sitting around having a few beer. Some said upon retirement they never want to fly again, others want to fly for fun, and what they hope to buy for aircraft. It made me wonder what others dream of when they retire. In ...

That sounds depressing. I look forward to retirement, and letting the youngsters do the daily grind. If my plan works out, 6 more years, and retire at 55.

Re: Question about landing technique
Oh and glad to know that crashes don't count if nobody actually dies. Helijet has crashed, and did so again very recently. 0 is the amount of times that I've crashed. Even in vehicles, the only accident in my life, was being rear ended, while stopped at a red light, I was the 7th vehicle back, we al...

They operate 15+ aircraft, have been in business for over 30 years, and I couldn’t find any fatal accidents on their record. Let us know when your stats look that good. Too close to the ship? You can’t be serious. Especially in a steep descent, he/she wasn't even level when they did that. Screensho...

Go ahead and vaccinate the guards .. I don't think you'll hear anyone complain. Prisoners seem to have more rights than the general public these days .. so ass backwards, but we shouldn't be shocked .. everything is ass backwards in Trudeau's Canada. (my opinion) Why is it backwards? If a society d...

Re: Carbon tax announced December 2020
I'm in no way a Trudeau fan, but he's right on this issue. Right on what? Making it unaffordable for people to drive or heat their homes? Or bring in hundreds of thousands more immigrants a year which leads to more cars and pollution? It’s just a tax grab, not going to change anything except drain ...

Re: Question about landing technique
Worst of all was how he was much closer to that ship than he needed to be. But he should have been slower on short final to, so he had more reaction time if needed. It is not a race, saving 20 seconds but sacrificing safety is not a good trade off. But not my company, birds, or pilots, so when they ...

Retirement Dreams
Once you are ready to retire, what if anything, are your dreams in the aviation world? In my perfect world dreams, I want a Kodiak on Aerocet amphibs, and a 330LT, airstrip on my property, and a hangar for them both. Then my GF to tell the medical system to shove it, and we go have fun together.

Likely no difference. Just collect their pay, wait for retirement, and get that big retirement package politicians do.

My cousin did her training at Coastal in 2019. In talking with her about the experience, she had a few small complaints, but overall was happy with it.

What is quite interesting is that somebody here thinks the business is going back to "normal" once we are all vaccinated..or not. Do you pay any attention to the economics that are transpiring all around you? Not going back to "normal". This is very true. We are also heading quickly toward communis...

Thank you everyone who has chimed in. An occasional tip a pilot may get, has never before been an issue. Last month that all changed, and there was an angry employee, so angry, that despite my sitting him down twice to talk about it, he couldn't let it go, and I ended up terminating his employment. ...

Something to remember, that applies for everything in life, not just flying. There is never a good time to do most things that are really important to us. Don't put off things that matter to you, "until it is the right time". Because it will be terrible when you are 60, to look bad and have regrets ...

Interesting discussion, since there has been no response for 6 months, I don't feel too bad about being a little off topic. Did anyone of you actually enjoy your flight training, or was it all just doom and gloom? When I did mine, it was enjoyable, so much so, I would ask my instructor to allow me X...
