Re: Jazz AC FLOW
Whenever AC hires a Jazz pilot, it triggers two training events at the AC “family”. One at AC itself for the new hire, and another at Jazz to replace the pilot that just left. I’ve heard that training costs at Jazz are paid for by AC as part of “pass through” costs, but I’m not sure if that’s true. ...

Re: Jazz AC FLOW
AC won’t mess with the minimum tail #(it’s 80 not 85) because that’s part of the CPA between AC management and Jazz management. They will however f$ck with the Jazz collective agreement as much as they want because they just don’t care about the terms of flow. As far as fleet, if anything it would b...

What happened to the licence thread?
The thread about the 777 Captain without proper licence disappeared from here yesterday. Why? There is a thread in the General Comments” section but without it here(where it belongs) one is missing out on some “inside opinions/knowledge” that might provide some insight into this bizarre situation.

Re: Next Ground School
I think you’re better off going to CN or corporate. CN=Canadian North? Really? So I can fly an ATR-42 out of Ottawa to a gravel strip in the middle of nowhere? I mean, I'm not knocking that for those who choose it. But personally, I think Jazz will be a better gig. As for corporate, I know people w...

Why is that, when what Jazz really needs is Captains, not FOs

Re: YHZ and YQT
Are you sure they aren’t hiring DEC? I think they would accept a DEC, but it’s just that anyone with the type of experience to make a successful DEC hasn’t applied to Jazz in quite some time

He did not fly much in recent years. Less than 10 hours in 2025 I heard. But he did stay current as far as sim PPC etc. Last I heard was going into the training department

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
Truedude sure has gone quiet. Can’t really blame him, this was not an ideal outcome but after some reflection I’ve come away with a new view. First, I didn’t see anyone else put their hand up for chair, with the one late and sardonic email which would not have been taken seriously, it really came d...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
The wage reopener is 2029 and the reason people weigh in on Jazz problems here is because they can, anonymously, because social media abounds, and the world sucks because of it

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
So it’s a waste of time/member dues to file a section 35 but a good use of time/member dues to file a grievance for the violation of flow to provide compensation to people who don’t even work for Jazz anymore? How the hell does that make any sense? As for grieving the exclusivity clause violation an...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
While applaud the JAZ MEC’s attempts to remedy the situation, I honestly feel that the corporate structure in Canada(and in any capitalist economy for that matter) is designed to limit gains by the workers. It doesn’t even matter who is (objectively) right or wrong, the “system”(emboldened by the CI...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
So you are asking for confidential documents(all subject to an NDA) to be disclosed on avcanada? Ok At the end of the day, the JAZ MEC and, by extension, its pilots, are in a horrible bargaining position. Always have been, always will be. It’s the nature of a CPA(even when they were wholly owned the...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
The Jazz MEC could win a policy grievance but the only entity capable of providing remedy is not Jazz, it’s AC. See the problem?

Yes I respect and understand that AC owns their flying and is in an entirely different bargaining environment than Jazz is.

Re: Is Claude going to Hawaii this Christmas?
So if being locked into a deal until 2035(with a full wage re-opener in 2029) is so shitty then why (in your own words) did AC do such a poor job with open bargaining in 2024? Yet another person that just lives to complain and is never satisfied with anything. If you’ve got this whole bargaining thi...

Re: Is Claude going to Hawaii this Christmas?
You have always been extremely critical of both the JAZ MEC/Executive and Jazz pilots for voting the way they do on various tentative agreements. I’m not sure why you are so interested in what happens here. It’s kind of weird. Anyway, the Executive Officer terms end in February of 2026 so there will...

Thanks for your concern, you can go back to complaining about your own contract now. I’ve seen your posts in your mainline thread, and no one can do anything right in your eyes.

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
As I said earlier the 17 year deal has been debated ad nauseum. Bringing it up here again is pointless. What is problematic is when you say that “if the company wants to run the operation into the ground that’s on them”. There are almost 300 pilots at Jazz currently enrolled and contributing to a de...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
Despite being locked into a long term contract, Jazz did receive fairly significant increase in compensation in 2023, due to the reasons you stated. The compensation increase was as much attributable to the reduction in benefit premiums as it was actually hourly pay rate increases. Plus a little kno...

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
Global solutions was a bankruptcy-era concept. With the failure of the ULP process, I don’t see anything short of, ironically ,a recession bringing the parties back to the table.

While I agree with the concepts you propose, do you really think the ACA negotiating committee is going to use bargaining capital on your next contract to have a PML included in your CBA?

The interference in bargaining resulted in less pay increases than were needed to attract and retain pilots that could/would go Captain here. So it’s both

Re: Does anyone know what the MEC is actually trying to get out of the ULP?
For all the AC pilots weighing in here, let me ask you this… is your company facing an existential crisis? As in, do you have existing FOs willing and able to upgrade and/or are you able to recruit “captain ready”candidates to sustain your operation? Because Jazz cannot. So why don’t you piss off an...
