Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Cndnaviator….. I would you call you out for being the ultimate hypocrite except it wouldn’t be fair as you probably weren’t around when the race to the bottom started. And who started it? The predecessor to Jazz who was constantly offering to fly the CRJ chesper than AC. Whise pilots had to give up...

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Well none of these “virtual” positions would/could be left seat, because one would have to pass the command course, which is by no means guaranteed. But 777 FO is still a hell of a lot more more money than one would ever make at Jazz so that salary alone would make AC management wish they’d better h...

Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Yes the CIRB, has made decisions in the past that affected SL(seniority lists) but that was generally when they were asked to arbitrate on mergers etc(think AC/CDN). This is different. At the end of the day, someone(AC) did not honour their end of the deal(flow). Were they in bed with Jazz managemen...

Re: PayScale/Deductions
Make sure you are comparing YUL based TRZ and YUL based AC pilots(or YYZ TRZ with YYZ AC) with each other. Provincial tax rates in Quebec are much higher than Ontario so this will clearly affect take home pay. Another factor is that AC pay 100% of all benefit(health/dental/Disability) benefit while ...

What is the status/plan for the YHZ base? How many Dash pilots are based there?

Re: DEC Jazz
Why would anyone, with any amount of experience( enough to be DEC at least) sign up for $110/hr to fly 18 days a month(or be on reserve for 18 days a month) and live in the most expensive cities in Canada? Actually the reserve scenario is more realistic because you will constantly have senior FOs pa...

Re: Pairings at Porter
Does the jet have layovers in all the destinations it goes to or are there some places that’s just a turn? Also are there any commuting benefits? Thank you. There are layovers at most destinations but some are also turns. If you are commuting pilot you get RPJ from day 1. Passes for your family at ...

Re: Pilot Employment Beyond Age 65
Flying airplanes, has been, and always will be, fun. It’s why most of us got into it as a career. The airline industry, however, will suck the life out of you. Even post 60, the longer one waits to retire, the shorter one’s life expectancy. There are myriad studies on this .If you really want to fly...

Re: Pilot Employment Beyond Age 65
On the contrary, I’d argue that once you stop working, you start living. Unless you are broke, and miserable from poor decisions during your working years. How about seeing the grandkids more often and traveling, golfing all the time, not having to commute… the list goes on

Re: Pilot Employment Beyond Age 65
Jazz has status pay. So if the 65 year old E175 and CRJ Captains in YYZ and YUL want to do a full initial course to go back on the Dash8-400 to keep flying(as crazy as that sounds to me) I guess at least they won’t be losing any pay. But at AC, the vast, vast majority of age 65 pilots are widebody C...

Re: Can you get approved for a cat 3 medical if you take a psychostimulant to treat ADHD?
I'm not sure what you mean by a "neuropsych exam". I think the FAA may require that for ADHD applicants. But TC usually only requires those of applicants with TBI(Traumatic Brain Injuries). For ADHD all TC really want to know is the applicant has been off meds for at least 6 months and shows no sign...

Re: Is the ACPA Motto: "We will get'em next time" gone?
So is the consensus that AC management blinked here with this agreement to mediation? Or do they have some machiavellian card up their sleeve? I'm sure Calin( rob and fist you) Rovinescu taught Rousseau well(and might still be providing guidance to him for all anyone knows)

Re: New hire bids
Rudder, Just curious why you think that if AC were to buy Jazz back from Chorus, that they would close the YYC base? I get that under CHR ownership, Jazz management fears that closing the YYC base would result in tenured pilots walking next door to WestJet. Why would AC not care about that if they b...

Re: New hire bids
Porter just announced they will be replacing the Dash8-400 with the Embraer on their YHZ-YYT, YHZ-YOW and YHZ-YUL routes starting in April 2024. I’d be very surprised if AC does not start putting some type of jet on those city pairs in response. https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/porter-airlines-...

Re: New hire bids
Rudder,
Yet despite your obvious disdain for all things Jazz, you continue to work here. You could even avail of the very generous ERP. Yet you are still here. To what end? Criticizing union and management to the bitter end?
