Re: Air Show: Too traumatic for refugees!

Almost guaranteed someone publishes an article crapping on the air show each year. I remember this one from 2007.

If you google "ban the toronto airshow" there's quite a few articles...

Re: CNE Airshow viewing locations?

On a somewhat related note, I thought this rant, I mean article was pretty funny. He does this every year so I actually went looking for it. Yes, I saw the 757 was running out of YOW every night for a while. It had the traditional cargoJet colors and it might be: C-FKCJ

Re: CNE Airshow viewing locations?

I don't think the lineup warrants attending this airshow anymore. Last year was lousy. Now all you get is the customary CF-18, Aurora, a Porter plane, an aerobatic plane or two, the air Cadets towing a glider by, and maybe an F-16 if you're lucky, another Porter plane, and the Snowbirds to cap it o...

Re: CNE Airshow viewing locations?

Thanks for the tips! Man, the line-up (http://cias.org/performers/) is looking a little...thinner than previous years. Not a shot at organizers or performers; just an observation. I still love going and I get that it is becoming increasingly difficult to put these shows on but wouldn't a three day a...

I saw/heard it too and noticed it seemed to be over Kanata around Glen Cairn (around Hazledean mall) and Bridlewood. It was at the same time the police were looking for the missing 17 yr old and I thought it might be related... http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/year+missing+from+Kanata+area/9562638/...

Re: CIAS Toronto Air Show Schedule for Saturday Sept 1 2012

That's too bad. I guess the people who bought condos there will be happy to see it go. We used to drive down from Ottawa because the line up was so good & because we haven't had a big airshow since I guess the 90's. Thankfully Vintage Wings started hosting a great show and it is well run so h...

I remember seeing a very similar 'pilot shortage' article in my flight school's pamphlet in the early 90's. I work in IT now. I guess if you trust them & you don't do your research, it will work.Image

that is a long runway for that little jet to be travelling at a high rate of speed where I saw it stopped...I guess we'll hear more soon. I can't believe it is national news though

Just stopped by. Thankfully, it did not go over the hill at the threshold of 25. It is an ERJ145 Nose gear appears to be up; I couldn't get close enough. Here is the early article: http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,51540,00.html I had just switched to tower when I heard "We're not going to m...

Re: Abbotsford Airshow 2009 Disappointment

I wish the creditors could get paid from all the bankrupt airshows in the past in Ottawa. They stiffed the performers at the last one (and lots of other suppliers). Crap, I had no idea. Is this the group that organized the shows at YOW or the group organizing the shows at YRP? Personally, I gave up...

The static display, sure I'd love to see more aircraft, who wouldn't? The American's brought a couple of C130's, a wicked B-52 Bomber (and let you walk up and kick the tires), a KC-137 and a KC-10 both with full walk around, inside, talk with the crew, the C-17 not on static as it was kept busy! Re: Winds hit CYRO - lots of damage

I am a few K's from YOW and I was out watching the departing traffic on 25 when the storm was just North of Ottawa (close to where Rockliffe is). It made for some interesting departures. Sorry to see the wreckages. I am really going to miss grabing some shade and watching the traffic under the Willo...

Why do I have these visions of the Snowbirds being grounded because a new aircraft has yet to be purchased? Oh I can just hear the bickering years from now. "Don't buy/lease them new aircraft. They are a waste of money" etc.... Personally, I would like to see them in something new that would last ha...

I have to ask why does everyone go to the inventory available in Moose Jaw for training? Wouldn't the CF have to buy or lease 11 (and some spares) new aircraft?

It depends on what you were looking for. If you were looking for boom and zoom, this was not a great show. The last two years were much better. Emergency Landing It was a real life lesson in how to perform an emergency landing for one student pilot in Ottawa on Wednesday.
