Re: Low time pilot with 737 rating and 300/500 hours on type
I guess I fired a few people up.My point is if you are not a Canadian citizen, cant work in Canada dont think you can walk in and get a job.If you are a Canadian citizen or have the right to work in Canada then come here and work your way up like everyone else.I dont know if this poster can work in C...

whats that have to do with leaving jobs here in Canada to Canadians? You chose to go work abroad and the reason you can is there must be a demand. There isnt a demand here for non Canadians.

Are you going to work the ramp up there? If so be prepered for a long haul, maybe think of what you will be giving up to go up there. If your planning to do a couple years on the ramp you will be treated like crap by some people who think they are gods gift to aviation.I would form good bonds with you...

Re: Missed Approaches and Noise Abatement
No.Noise abatement procedures are departure only.Go around power settings are different that takeoff power settings.I believe that you are suppose to start bringing up flaps at 1000 feet.In a place like YVR your missed approach procedure follows a different track than the Vnap A departure procedure ...

Re: First Air - reduces Edmonton flights, adds YVQ
I would say Westjet connects northerners to all of North America,Hawaii and the Carribean. When people want to go on vacation should they have to pay a fortune to just get to Edmonton? It wasnt long ago it cost 700 dollars to go Yellowknife to Edmonton.First Air and Canadian North should have seen thi...

I used to get anxious and nauseas, lost 30 plus pounds. Not enough can be said about excercise and eating right. Its a domino effect.Next thing you are sleeping better and have a clear head.Ride anxiety and whatever else we call it we do to ourselves but how we handle stress is up to us,but if the bod...

It is always a shame when someone that young passes away. It makes you realise how important a positive environment is,how short life is and what effect we have on people(good or bad). The important stuff isnt how good of pilots we are, what piece of iron we fly or how much money we make. What is impor...

Re: Criminal negligence overturned in 2002 Winnipeg crash . . .
I would like to know how the other planes did that trip. There would have been more than 1 plane leaving that morning. I dont remember a ho being able to carry 9 fishermen with 50 pounds of gear and full fuel. They would of had to lie about baggage weights to show legal fuel.Ironically I bet MTs plan...

Re: Criminal negligence overturned in 2002 Winnipeg crash . . .
Doc,you must be in a different industry than the one Ive been in for 20 years. If you think companies dont mind taking extra fuel your out to lunch. Do you think companies dont mind taking golf clubs off on a golf charter because you want granny gas? They are more concerned about pleasing the client...

Re: Criminal negligence overturned in 2002 Winnipeg crash . . .
Maybe Keystone teaches that a ho holds 5 hours. If he got in and 3/4 tanks. 3/4 of 5 hours is 3 hours and 45 minutes. 1.5 hours up and 1.5 hours back. That leaves 45 minutes vfr reserve or 15 minutes to St Andrews with 30 min IFR. If he planned 230 first hour and 210 every hour after it would be 828 p...

Re: Criminal negligence overturned in 2002 Winnipeg crash . . .
I wonder if the flight planning works using the numbers Keystone tells the pilots to use for flight planning, weather that was forcast to be I believe VFR returning to YWG. Take into account that if I remember reading details correctly in the papers, he told the chief pilot that morning he couldnt t...

Inside info, anyway it doesnt matter. Frankly Ive had enough of all this crap. We all consider ourselves proffessionals at work yet get on here and bash each other. Ive had enough of AC bashing Westjet. We make money, provide good customer service. Its a great place to work. I dont like how AC runs ...

Riding the brakes on a 2 mile downhill slope on the way to runway 25 isnt too safe either. Does your SOPs talk about brake heating? Re: High Speed Taxi
I was in YXE and followed an AC jungle jet out. We get out to the runway and low and behold we hear" we are waiting on our numbers, it will be right away". ATC puts them into position and hold. We wait, wait and wait. Finally ATC has had enough and taxis them up the runway, off and back around behind...

Nothing is worse that getting behind AC. Do you guys really taxi that slow to get your numbers? Why not get them at the gate and be ready to go so it doesnt slow the rest of us up?

What runway were they landing?72 km isnt that much wind for the most part. 35 knots or so and if it was down the runway thats not bad. I wonder about load shifting or something else. Maybe it is just a bad recovery from a bounced landing that broke the fuel tanks. Anyway bad stuff.

Re: Missinippi Air Now Requires Training Bond
Id like to know why anyone would go there for an 8000$ bond. Unless things have changed you will be a glorified ramp hand that has to do shit jobs all the time. Get to fly once in a while and listen to the maintenance bitch that everything that happens is the pilots fault. This is day in day out.

All the Air Canada awards, its funny. What about government bail outs? What about customer service? Its terrible. That comment about go ask the employees, I know some that have quit Air Canada and went either to Westjet or back to their old companies. Sounds like a real dream job doesnt it? I like so...
