Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft
This wasn’t a win for swoop pilots.. go and read the interim order again it’s clear your here only until your fate is determined at a later date. You are redundant swoopsters never forget that as are we and that’s been proven time and time again. If you think the company will pay bypass pay to 1000...

Re: King Air 100 question....straight 100 model
Had this happen. All it was was a metal burr on the FCU that was jamming the power lever cable and had no control on it. If I remember correctly a frozen line would cause it to go to idle.

Re: Had to chuckle today
I was assuming they didn't have experience here because you can't turn right off of rwy 24's and expect to go anywhere unless you plan on taxiing down the 401. I think turning left from 24 would get you that 401 taxi, no? A right turn would put you onto the 407, assuming you avoided Derry Road (pro...

Re: Had to chuckle today
Well an educated guess to a degree anyway. I was assuming they didn't have experience here because you can't turn right off of rwy 06's and expect to go anywhere unless you plan on taxiing down the 401.

Re: Had to chuckle today
As soon as I heard that I knew I would hear a "non-Canadian" accent come on the radio. A simple mistake this time but what's next? No, I'm pretty sure we got it. I sure hope you've never made a simple mistake. Wouldn't want people chuckling and asking what you are going to screw up next. Pretty sur...

Re: Had to chuckle today
I wasn't really trying to focus any attention on skill level. More like if things like this happen people will just comment on things like "That's what happens when you bring foreign pilots in". Sorry if I made it sound like it was a skill comment. Its like if Obama really messed things up, people (...

Had to chuckle today
With all the debate going on with foreign workers in Canada I had to chuckle today. Saw CanJet land on 06L in YYZ and then exited right and basically was asked by tower "WTF? Why would you even exit that direction?". As soon as I heard that I knew I would hear a "non-Canadian" accent come on the rad...

Re: Flight Attendant Announcements
One of our humorous flight attendants was hired directly from Sir Richard Branson himself when he was on one of our flights. Like to see if any of us pilots can say the same.

Re: Cariboo Gear UP?
This isn't like forgetting to turn on the auto feather, prop sync, auto ignition, leaving the flaps at approach or leaving the flaps down after landing. ". Doc, come on now. Try forgetting to ARM your autofeather on a C425 and have an engine failure at 100' AAE. Good luck! If you live you can tell ...

Unless the rules have changed a person could not hold a student pilot permit unless they are 15 and you needed that to fly solo.

Re: Tax deductions
Peter Pan is correct. Your PPL CAN BE tax deducted. If I remember correctly there is a form to sign to indicate that your intentions is to continue your training towards a CPL in order to obtain work. For recreational purposes a PPL is not tax deductable.

Re: Westjet Q1...good job!
SO correct me if I am wrong. The last two quarters we have made about 127 million. (4th quarter was APPROX 42 mill plus 33 mill from tax benefit and then 53 mill the first quarter). Just by doing the math the company does share more than 10-20% of the profit to profit sharing. Like I mentioned, Nove...

Re: Westjet Q1...good job!
20%? If I am correct the last profit share was based on a combined 2 and 3rd quarter profit of somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 million. They shared about 32 million to us. That is a lot more than 20%. I am curious as to why to tax gain isnt included.

Re: Westjet Q1...good job!
Hey ALL. I dont see why it would't be bigger than Novembers profit sharing. Just look at the numbers. 4th quarter profit was somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 million (that includes the one time corporate tax rebate thingy which was about 30 some odd million of the 75 million). This quarter profit...

Re: Another one bites the dust!
On their last day of operation we took a flight from Kona to Honolulu. Too bad they went under. Seemed like nice operation. Those 737-200's even looked pretty new. But you can only run those for so long against RJ's or B717's. We were wondering why all the flags on the island were running half mast ...
