Re: Duty day tracker

FLTDUTY XLS (and PLUS) are designed for stand alone Windows application installed to your C:\ drive. Many users install on a network. Might work OK, but this is outside the design use of the program. The solution (?) to lost data is to always maintain a good backup in a safe place so you can Import ...

Re: 42 day duty rule

Lots of good ideas here... FLTDUTY XLS treats it this way: Once you have 5 days/dates off in a row, you are allowed to go 42 days without requiring another day/date/24 consecutive hours off. This is automatic and doesn't require any action by the pilot if you have the Ops Spec. If during that (42 da...

Re: Flight Duty Calculator

Thanks for the kind words and the support. FLTDUTY was originally an Excel spreadsheet but I soon found there were too many complications and convolutions of times, options and alternatives in the CARs and CASS. It is now a Visual Basic application and there are over 200 "known" users out there. It ...

Re: DUTY

You can contact me for a free trial download of FLTDUTY XLS. It is written for English(Canadian) Windows but may be OK in French (Canadian) set in Control Panel > Regional Settings. The labels and such will be in English, but I think it will accept French format entries from a French keyboard. Sorry...

Re: FLTDUTY XLS.... FOR MAC

I think I've probably heard from STL and we've worked through the problem. Guess he still doesn't like FLTDUTY XLS much, but probably can keep working with it. The problem with FLTDUTY XLS and MAC is that the program is written in Visual Basic and requires Windows... I guess there is no easy way to ...

Re: Flight duty hours?

You can use the FLTDUTY XLS http://www.fltduty.ca software to enter duty and flight times and it will check against the CARs and Standards for the type of operation you are in and warn of impending violations or approaching limits. CARs are the Regulations and are in the 700's. The Standards are wha...

FLTDUTY XLS

At the risk of being lumped in with the "expensive software" offerings, you might check out http://www.fltduty.ca for duty time software. This isn't strictly speaking a logbook substitute but does track duty times, flight times and rest and applies the CARs (Canadian only...). The XLS version is for...

FLTDUTY XLS software

Sorry Mac and PDA users, but FLTDUTY XLS is not an Excel spreadsheet. It did start life as fltduty.xls when filenames needed to be 8 letters or less.... But I soon found the spreadsheet couldn't keep up with all the combinations, permutations and options allowed under the CARs. FLTDUTY is a Visual B...

Not to burst a bubble...

I surely agree...! In my FLTDUTY XLS I run the limits with 8+1 and indicate a violation under 9 hours between duty periods for the travel, meals, sh_, shower and shave. Some users have complained that they can get to bed faster than that, but others actually use 10 hours between duty periods. In the...

NPA 2000-308, 309, 310

This NPA has been in the works since late in 2000. The wheels of TC turn slowly... I'm not sure where the original request for change came from but apparently it is at "Justice" for legal editting today. Some day it will turn up as an official CARs Amendment. (We're stuck at 2005-2 for now...) Perha...

Standby vs On Call

Good question... A couple of things come into play here. I'm assuming a 703 Air Taxi operation with passengers but non-scheduled. First, following any duty period you need 8 hours rest. So to be on call 24 hours, you need to have had at least 8 hours, after your last flight, designated as time free ...

Flight duty on standby, call-in or reserve

The difference between standby and on call or on reserve is that a specific location is included in the standby definition. Standby requires that a pilot be at a specific location (the airport... or home... or within 50 miles of the airport...) and be available for dispatch on a flight within 1 hour...

FLTDUTY XLS software

Just an update on this thread... After getting some interest from individual pilots on having their own duty time tracking as opposed to the operations company based program, I adjusted my software to restrict the full functioning version to a single record and adjusted the price down. Today, there ...

FLTDUTY XLS software

I just caught up with this post and can shed some light... FLTDUTY XLS is the software referred to in CBAAC 0241. The issue had to do with 704/705 operations or those using the On Call designation for pilots. The reference is CARs 700.19 and CASS 720.19. Specifically, TC enforces a policy that requi...

FLTDUTY XLS software

Sorry to be late in catching up with this. I was just surfing the forums looking for this topic. I can offer a little info.
