Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..

Wow, that's an insulting salary! I made more flying light turboprops 15 years ago. I can't imagine they are getting any quality applicants.

I still think the ATR is a cheap compromise of an airplane.
Heliian, have you flown the ATR? I was just wondering why you would have such a strong opinion about this aircraft.

Re: Fokker 100 Crash in Almaty, Kazakhstan Dec 26,2019

If I were on a newer model 737 and saw frost on top of the wing, I would suspect that the captain is legally taking off with all the required approvals in order. Ummmm, can you clarify this statement? I am quite sure that knowingly taking off with ANY frost on top of the wing won't satisfy the lega...

Re: B737 Recommended headset

Anyone know if the Bluetooth still works with the QC35 Harmony/Avee setup? I need to be able to watch Netflix at 360. Priorities people! No, unfortunately the Bluetooth on the QC35 is disabled when the mic is plugged into the headphones. Avee does sell a separate Bluetooth add-on for the Avee mic.

Re: More trouble for Boeing and it’s Max and now NG...

If you get a chance, watch this video. It's shocking that the 2 women in this video were fired for trying to get Boeing's contractors to manufacture the parts correctly and to spec. Boeing knew about this issue too and chose to ignore it! This is going to get interesting for sure. https://www.youtub...

Re: B737 Recommended headset

Bose QC35 + Avee Mic. I use this setup and I'm very happy with it. Plus you can just take the mic off and use the headset for normally for music or whatever so you get much more utilization of you QC35's. Avee is similar to Ufly but it's a company based in Norway. The NG is a pretty loud aircraft bu...

Godspeed buddy.
Patrick was a really good guy. My condolences to his family and friends. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to actually fly with him, but his positive attitude and sense of humor was sure nice to have around the hangar.

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

2 airplanes splashed - no matter the make - is certainly tragic......but if they are downed by pilot error, you cant really blame the machine for that. The Max has a known and acknowledged deadly flaw in the flight control system. Would you suggest that just operating this aircraft in a business as...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

When I started on the NG/Max I was totally blown away by the fact we still had to manually select generators on after an engine start! That seems an oddly specific thing to be upset about. Ya... I'm not actually upset about it, I was just giving one example of the old school systems on a "mod...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

This whole thing is just another horrible example money trumping safety. It'll never change. Money always has and always will trump safety no matter what the cute little SMS manual write up says. The 737 is a modern dinosaur, it should've been updated decades ago regardless whether it would require ...

Re: Can anyone translate "crap" into French for me

I'm thinking the successful candidate will probably be in a flying position before ever figuring out the checkin system, provided they don't constantly whine and complain about why they're not flying yet. It's just a typical "foot in the door" temporary position. Pilot-in-waiting / Counter Agent Que...

Re: Westwind

Boeing (and their lawyers) have certified that the 737 NG is permitted to safely take off with frost contaminated wings...after a few conditions are met of course. *edit:added the FCOM text. Takeoff with CSFF on upper wing surfaces is allowed provided all of the following conditions are met:• The...

Re: Westwind

Good post GNF, every word is true, that's exactly what happens in the north of Canada. As for suing the pilots into bankruptcy, is that really going to do anything positive? What would that change? Just more unemployed 250 hour newbies who tried to stand up to the boss. What TC really needs to do is...

Re: Westwind

Hopefully these "big" changes will get the company back to the level it was at 5-6 years ago. It's crazy how fast a company will fall when you appoint the wrong people to be in key upper managerial positions. WWA is in need of a fresh start to get their priorities back on track. This is a step in th...

Its sad to see what was such a great company fall so hard. I totally agree. It's a real shame how such a good company allowed themselves to become so complacent. I’m the name of trying to save a buck, it has cost a young man his life and permanently changed life for the survivors. I think it’s high time upper managers at these companies face the music. It’s time the accountable excecutive is actually held accountable! If the accountable excecutive is not hel...

Re: Westwind

Wow! PC Jr. CEO of West Wind. Never in a million years could I have predicted this
This guy has always hated WWA with a passion, now he’s the new CEO? Should be interesting to say the least. Desperate times call for desparate measures I guess.
