Or fleet growth... or a booming cargo sector.
It's all fear and manipulation by the company and I'm surprised Jerry is so clearly falling for it.

Re: ALPA Criticizes Cargojet
Dia.s came back firing. Mind you I don't really see how he can defend his position. Does anyone really think they're going to ship off pilot jobs to the USA, where the rules are even more restricting and pilots get paid more... even at cargo carriers? Sounds like he is taking a page from the ACPA bo...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen
I've heard ACPA is against pushing for a better package because "it would be unfair to those who took the first two packages". Unions are supposed to advocate for members in good standing. Current pilots should not have to give up a better offer just because those who left got a worse deal. If you'...

The best way to use WJ passes, is to make friends with someone at WJ that can look up the loads for you. I have never had good luck with the face system.

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen
I think the longer this pandemic lingers, and restrictions are in place the more people close to retirement will consider packaging out. I hope if AC has another ERIP for pilots, we'll see another decent uptake of the package. With all the hotel restrictions, pre-flight covid tests (for commuters it...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen
Even with the 151 recalls (including the previous 104 on May 01st) there will remain 588 Jazz pilots Inactive/CEWS. Still waiting for the final numbers on the special severance program, but likely 80-100 early departures. Best forecast for significant additional recalls will flow from results of th...

Re: Age 67 or 69
This is Canada. We are supposed to be leaders in human rights. Mandatory retirement is ageism pure and simple. The disrespect shown here based on age is unprofessional as well. If someone can hold a medical let them fly. If more frequent medicals are required (based on evidenced based medicine) tha...

Re: Age 67 or 69
This is a slippery slope. I don’t care for one second if you want to work till you die. Doesn’t affect me. What I do care about is my employer changing my pension contribution/match based me working to 100, because someone can’t live within their means. Now I’m affected. Reduced Pension contributio...

Re: Age 67 or 69
It wasn't much of an issue when we went from 60 to 65. Really? Were you even at AC between 2012 and 2017? 5 years of stagnation....320 Captains were given DBMs < 70hrs/month for 2 or 3 years... Yep, no issues there. Two of the still most commonly talked about things in the flight deck at AC. 1) the...

Re: Age 67 or 69
Down with Long Sleeves! In all seriousness, who cares if guys/gals want to keep working after a certain age ; no sense in stressing over someone's personal life/decision. We'll all get to that point in life sometime, hopefully. And if you really have a hard on in flying past 67/69 or 70, go be a ca...

Re: What is ALPA Jazz's views on the new CASTA rules?
Guys the only reason this is happening now is because its slowwwwwwwwwwwwww right now. It gives the employees time to do this. Once things pick up they will definitely go back to the old system. This is all for Optics. Imagine regular passengers watching crewmembers push a button and just walk thro...

Re: What is ALPA Jazz's views on the new CASTA rules?
What has lead to the change? It is a TC response to change in ICAO standard. Current TC implementation is just a limited trial at 2 locations. I have no problem with 100% NPS (it happens for flight crew at many foreign airports) so long as there are dedicated facilities to accommodate volume. 100% ...

Fück that. I want to go when my day comes and I want my time at the trough on the way out. If they do that again I'm voting for status pay with a WB/NB blended scale- no grandfathering and socialized bidding... Re: Age 67 or 69
Also, just to point out, I highly doubt ICAO would be doing anything about this in the near future. In the USA thousands of pilots retired with ERP plans, and there's mass pilot employment elsewhere around the world. 60% of Canadian pilots are out of work, CX cutting staff, EK, LH, Qatar etc. All cu...

Re: Age 67 or 69
Sorry for the ignorance here folks I’m not in the airline world, but do AC/WJ/others have mandatory retirement age for pilots? I understand that Canada as a country does not but I’m wondering about specific carriers. AC technically doesn't. They have some provision for guys/gals turning 65 where th...

"Fact check: No evidence that the vaccine for COVID-19 caused fatalities in Israel | Article [AMP] | Reuters" https://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN2AA2TS Normally I don't engage with this kind of thing but seriously man, stop the fear mongering. Re: Age 67 or 69
Why would a union fight to *increase* a retirement age? 1-2% of your gross income goes towards union dues. Would you rather collect on the $60k first year FO or the $250k+ senior captain? Math speaks for itself. ICAO should be sued or move off Canadian soil. The real problem is first year FO...

Some older pilots are great and you learn a ton... and some are fucking terrible and should have retired years ago.newlygrounded wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 11:04 am If it's proven that a 67/69 year old is at the same level of safety as someone 65 I don't mind an age increase.

Re: Age 67 or 69
Now IS the time to negotiate this. In the era of affirmative action/discrimination, why hasn't ALPA/ACPA/UNIFOR negotiated this? WHY hasn't Jerry D from Unifor, sued ICAO, based in Montreal for the archaic Age 65 rule? Age discrimination? Why is he leaving so much dues on the table? He's on TV ever...

frankly i'm happy with our representation, so instead of wining on the forums, maybe volunteer and put action into your words. if you're a red bus driver that means you're a Rougie which would make sense why you're happy. What is ALPA Jazz's views on the new CASTA rules?
ACPA doesn't give a shit. So I'm hoping ALPA will be able to fight against these nonsense new rules/mandatory screening and bag opening of every flight crew member (while CASTA people walk through unchecked of course). Has there been any communication from JAZZ ALPA about this? Are they fighting it?...
