Re: Germanwings A320 Plane Crashes in Southern France

I always found it interesting that the "health and fitness" forum was one of the least visited. It's been quite a while since I posted, or read anything, on Avcanada but was interested to see what the comments were regarding this very disturbing crash. I have my 2 cents worth to contribute. (rounded...

Re: Funny how life works, eh?

Aye, you're right there; "it is just a job". There's a lot more to life than flying a plane. Good luck with your family. Take care of them. Bring your kids up well, with love and affection. Next time your company try to push you out the door in bad weather, or break whatever rules, tell them to kiss...

It says something about aviation that "Health and Fitness" is one of the rarely visited forums!

Congrats Spaner! Must have felt good to receive that in the mail. Staying healthy as a pilot; it's a very interesting topic. I might start a new post about that sometime down the line. Not today though. (There's laundry to do, dinner to cook, life to be led. Time to get away from the darned computer...

Re: TATC/medical appeal

Just an update on this. I went to a Tribunal Review last summer. The resultant determination, which came out recently, is for Transport Canada to reconsider the suspension. I feel that I got a fair hearing in the Review, and have no quibbles with the analysis. Thanks to anyone who has helped out alo...

Re: Kenn Borek Antarctic Cause/Speculation Thread

Well, I don't often pitch in with these discussions, but I'm going to today. For anyone unfamiliar with the iceberg accident, scroll back up a few posts to Diadem's, and click on the aviation-safety link. This happened in 1994; there wasn't much in the way of internet forums then. They had already d...

Jesus.
One too many whiskies tonight, but what a tragic end.
First met Bob in 98/99. An absolute gentleman.
What a terrible loss.
Many heartfelt condolences to all the families involved.

Re: TATC/medical appeal

Thanks for the responses, both here and PM's. Some useful information and help has been offered. Tuk U; I don't particularly want to get into the details of my case here. However, the one piece of advice that I'd throw out to any up and coming pilots getting into the industry, is to make sure to get...

Re: TATC/medical appeal

Thanks for the input Prairie Chicken. I have an ATPL. Even if I could retain a PPL I'd see that as some sort of success. I will approach the Regional Aviation Medical Officer again with some sort of suggestions for a restricted medical, etc. So far he hasn't come across as being too accommodating, b...

Re: TATC/medical appeal

Thanks for the reply, Colonel Sanders. You are probably fairly accurate in your summary. I'm not getting my hopes up too high for a positive outcome. But a fellow can't be totally grounded without at least some sort of squeak of protest.... Actually, it could be a good summer to take up paragliding ...

TATC/medical appeal

Hello folks, I might be clutching at straws here, but perhaps someone will come through with something that will make a difference. Recently got medically suspended, in all categories, and as it stands it looks to be a permanent suspension. I have applied to TATC (Transportation Appeal Tribunal of C...

Re: Twin Otter Fuel System Question

Is the low level light going to come on when there is "lots or half fuel in the tanks?" I would think Phu is on the right track with his answer... (300/500) The front fuel low level light comes on at 75lbs of fuel remaining, and the aft at 110lbs. So if fuel transfer had failed, wouldn't you be down...
