No. I was planning on taking a 70 week vacation anyways, and was looking for an excuse to pause my career advancement for the next couple of years.

Re: Vax communication
Laughing at the communication put out by the mec just now. I’ve read AcPa, jazz, cupe, sunwing and I understand transat is going this way too as they were advised a few days ago. All reasonable mature responses. Ours is like a shootout in the Wild West. The show gets better. Now backtracking with a...

Hi, I’m wondering how much would it cost to replace an existing small efis ( dynon ) instrument with a new one in the same spot . What do avionics shops charge nowadays? Thanks Just do it yourself! How hard can it be? The hole is already there, so just fill it with the new box. If you’re really luc...

Re: ACPA getting rid of volunteers.........again?
I think the corporation must literally have pictures of some of these guys on the MEC with transvestite hookers in their rooms on layover in Shanghai or something. It's unbelievable when you really see and hear first hand the crap they are putting over on us. They are doing such a horrible job repr...

Re: Help with buying a used plane
Totally agree, we spent over 5,000 grand on a beaver pre buy including flying out contact ame out to do it. It was a 3 day event in the shop pouring over the logs, verifying the work was actually done to our liking. It was money well spent. Wow! I’d have thought you could buy 10 DHC2s for that kind...

Diverse compared to an operator that barely touches any of the heavily affected regions? I don’t see your logic. If WestJet’s sole order of business was flying to China or Italy etc., then yes diversity would be a relative asset for AC. As it stands however, that’s not the case. Furthermore, with t...

If that doesn't work out for you I would choose the King Air Capt over 1900 FO.... Multi PIC beats over 12,500 FO in most books!

Re: Flight School in Toronto
If it helps your decision, there is now no charge for the YTZ ferry. The disadvantage of YTZ is the distance to the practice area, but that travel time CAN be used effectively, if instructor and student are willing and moderately resourceful. An advantage (which is also a bit of a disadvantage) is t...

Re: RNAV REQUIRED on approach plate - meaning?
I'd have them all plugged in and ready to go just in case. That's the issue. It's an old GPS, and it's would be a pain to have to program them all in, during the period after being cleared for the approach: Centre: "...Mike Zulu, confirm destination City Centre? You appear to be heading for Hamilto...

Prop lever position should have no effect on start parameters. The props won't start unfeathering until there is oil pressure, which won't be high enough until after the engine is self sustaining. On early serial numbers, where the oil pressure gauge is AC powered, the props unfeathering is the best...

Some good contenders out there, especially if operating sans GPS : Come on folks, it's 2011!!!! If any commercial operators are operating without GPS they deserve to be shot! You don't need a $15000 GNS530, but everyone should at least have a handheld gps unit! Anybody who's too cheap to properly o...

I think I see the problem... FEQK is TC1374 and yours is TC1347. Right digits, wrong order. FEQK has been under that reg in Canada since 1970. Check out http://wwwapps2.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/2/ccarcs/aspscripts/en/quicksearch.asp for more details. As far as I can tell TC1347 has never been registered...

Re: Cheapest float rating school in Southern Ontario/Vancouv
The question is why do you want a float rating? If it's to get a job flying floats, the rating won't get you a job and it would be pretty dumb to be flying floats with marginal training. If you just want "sea" printed on your license, than you're wasting a lot of money. If you want the rating so yo...

Thanks tca! That deininitely clears things up. It shounds like the system you're describing is identical to the 1900 (ftg maintains RPM 106% of selected value in the air, and 96% on ground). I assume you're a King Air driver? You assume correctly. I know that the 1900 and the king airs share many s...
