Re: Right gear collapse on Flybe Q400 (video) Feb 23rd
doesn't look like the touchdown was hard. http://www.airlive.net/breaking-right-gear-of-flybe-flight-collapsed-at-amsterdam-schiphol/ Actually looks very hard. Not to mention just before the gear touches there is a large input to starboard driving the gear into the ground harder. Yeah only seen one...

Re: Review Of F-35 Fighter Likely To Yield Lower Price, Faster Production
http://www.businessinsider.com/russia-equipped-six-military-bases-in-the-arctic-2015-12 I am not sure how many missions we fly in the arctic but I was reading this article the other day and may look like we'll need to step up our patrols in the near future due to Russia building new bases up there. ...

Re: Review Of F-35 Fighter Likely To Yield Lower Price, Faster Production
And look here: http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/politics/fighter-jet-purchase-super-hornets-1.3956306 Sole-Sourced Super Hornets will set us back $123M a piece. Just for the aircraft. For a vastly inferior weapon system. Is there any significant savings in a similar airframe? i.e... aircraft support equ...

Re: Leaving aviation
I got into renewables basically by trying to figure out how my current skills/education could be easily transferred to a new industry. wind, solar, etc. is a fairly new industry and there isn't any real trade certification (yet) so I knew I wouldn't have to overcome that hurtle. The funny thing is m...

Re: Leaving aviation
Left aviation 5 years ago. I was an AME making $33/HR with 12 years experience and several large aircraft endorsements. I now work in renewables (Wind/Solar) and make a lot more money with better benefits...no night shifts, see the fam everyday, etc... Don't get me wrong, I love airplanes...but I th...

Re: CYQG - Solar Farm
I wonder how much subsidies the Windsor airport is getting out of this. Probably make more money collecting Ontario government tax dollars as green energy subsidies than money they get as an airport In this case I assume the airport authority owns all the land the farm is built on. Land owners do n...

Re: CYQG - Solar Farm
Beats a wind farm and much cheaper to get rid of in 10 years. Until you have to pay for the disposal of the solar panels. Also, expect the solar farm to be there 20+years...same goes for wind. The technology is there to aim the solar panels in different directions at certain sun angles to prevent a...

Re: Westjet B-767 issues
To keep things semi thread related how long did it take AT to build up their wide body fleet? Does anyone remember if they had growing pains the way it seems like WJ is having? I don't think the problems Team Teal are having are unique to them. It happens to pretty much every Canadian operator each...

Re: Where AD compliance is difficult...
Look...I simply asked the question. I was not attempting to describe anything. "Would the AD still be the only approved data? I think that's a no." Yeah.... you only asked one question, then answered it yourself the next line down in the same post. Based on your history at Avcanada nobody here is g...
