Re: PIW or jump ship?
Ramp jobs are genuinely a disgrace, and the fact that they are standard in Canada speaks volumes about our culture. Just ruthless exploitation of anyone and everyone for a quick buck. I wouldn't take a job you hate for an unwritten promise of a job you want somewhere down the line, but I have heard...

Re: Emirates after AC
Do you really need the data? A median salary in the 90s would afford you a detached house and a couple cars in the driveway. Now you'd need at least $350k/year to afford that. Yes we need the data. Because make believe to prove a point isn't cool. https://www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/article/how-housing-...

Re: MPL nonsense
Now this, this is hilarious. The one place where pilots consistently fly overweight, in marginal weather with aircraft in mechanical conditions that leave a lot to be desired - to say nothing about its legal status. Is the North. You know where all those things almost just about never happen? At ma...

Re: MPL nonsense
When chief pilots at big airlines come up with hairbrained solutions to problems that don't exist, it's usually the crusty old northern pilots that stand up and ask the hard questions. Instructors and MPL pilots are created by the airline system. They have no outside experience and aren't as able t...

One of these days Canadian pilots will realize you don't have to toss bags in Thompson for 2 years for the privilege of flying a clapped out navajo to become a competent pilot.

Re: How competitive is 750+ Total Time?
This is a screenshot of AC's pilot posting application. What does it look like they prioritize? Hint, its not instructing time. This applies to every other airline in the country. Seems like they would be in the same category as your VFR in IMC 206 pilot mentioned earlier ;) As far as AC is concern...

Re: How competitive is 750+ Total Time?
Instructing time is certainly not useless and one learns many valuable and transferable skills. But to claim its just as valuable and potentially more so than actual 702/703 time when looking for other 703-705 jobs is just delusional. During my years up north, not once did I see any of my employers...

Re: RCAF looking overseas to fill pilot shortage
Lets not focus on a proper national military pilot pipe line and instead just pick up foreign military pilots. I wish I could say I was surprised but its right in line with Canadian mentality.

I agree with digits. Kind of weird that he wants you to pay for the fact that you're doing him a favour. Would be like asking friends that helped you move to pay for the beer and pizza.

What a bunch of amateurs. If you can't fill out the journey log while on a hand flown CATIII just turn in your license. Climb out and cruise are strictly for complaining about the contract, showing off the latest boat, car, cottage and maybe your new gf thats 30 years younger.

Re: Freelance instructor in CYMM
Up to a point. Very few instructors would prioritize one good paying client over a 1900 job... I wouldn't see it as prioritizing one over the other. Instruction can be done on days off from the regular 703 job. But my guess would be that OP wants to pay peanuts for a freelance instructor. Not at al...

Continuously comparing is what drives negotiations. So yes, we should. Contracts don’t just “arrive”. Continuously comparing to up to date and modern contracts. Not 10 year old ones on their way out. But feel free to tell your new MEC and NC at porter to base their negotiations off of AC's, TS's an...

Re: 2025 Pilot Recruitment
Transat doesn't transfer over years of service. If you're there for 15 years and go 330 captain you start at year 2 scale. You will be at $202/hr while if you did the same at AC you're $396/hr. Apples to apples. So I was actually wrong- you need a **96%** increase. 330 pilots at AC are literally ma...

Re: Flight Attendant strike vote opens on July 28th
The public should be very concerned whether the flight attendants can keep them safe in an emergency. They were ordered back to work 2 days ago but still don’t understand what that means, will they not understand when the Captain calls a order to evacuate? Don’t blame the Carney government, I belie...

Re: Glad we're doing our part during this labor crisis....
Have you been living under a cave? Have you seen the record profits major airlines around the world have been making the last few years? No I have not. Although I'm sure someone is charging a pretty penny on Airbnb for a cave. I just know how to read. "Record profit" means relative to themselves an...
