I’ve just started a new flying job and will be commuting out of Calgary for at least the next 12 months.
I’m a male, non smoker, easygoing, aircrew. If you know of any availability within a reasonable drive of the Vancouver Airport please pm me.
Cheers,

Re: REDUNDANCY
I feel I just have to add this... After 5 engine failures and one precautionary landing/diversion due to an oil leak (3 of which were in single engine aircraft below 500 AGL), the return to the airport on one engine in a twin jet was by far the least stressful. I won't be flying a single engine airc...

Many good points have been brought up in this thread. I am still leaning towards having two or more engines, I've got a family and I want to come home to them. End of story. For a final definitive answer I have forwarded this thread to Transport Canada's "Department of Redundancy Department". :rolle...

Re: Dash 8 Departs with insufficient fuel
I agree with Fish4Life, the crew did the right thing by going back. Mistakes happen, but at least this crew was honest enough to do the right thing as soon as they discovered the mistake. Yes! Totally agree. Here is what happen when you screw up with your fuel and don't turn back or divert in time....

There are three things you have to do in the proper order to successfully land a Dash-8 smoothly every time. Unfortunately no one knows what they are.
How DO you land a shopping cart smoothly anyway?

Van Sickles "Advanced Airmanship". Covers so much.
Of course for pleasure reading the ever popular books are "Fate is the Hunter", "Bush Pilot with a Briefcase", I'd also highly recommend "Forever Flying"- a biography of Bob Hoover.
That should keep you busy.

If you have to ask for advice as to which path you should take, go do the engineers degree. In my past, the majority of advice I got about being a pilot was negative (even from a group of stretch DC-8 pilots on a cockpit tour on my way to Hawaii). I ignored it and today have a great flying career wi...

From what I've heard, Sunwest has some cargo runs with Navajos and Caravans that don't have contrail requirements. Starter positions in these aircraft are offered to the rampies.

Re: A hypothetical situation
I've run into this situation more than once in the past. No matter how likeable the guy/girl is, I find my decision making is much better if I imagine any decision I make will lead to members of my family one day riding in the back seat with the pilot in question at the controls. This pilot should b...

I've been into this airport before. It's the highest elevation airport in Europe with a relatively short runway and no IFR approach. Not one to trifle with in snow if you are unfamiliar. Or even if you are familiar for that matter.
