Re: WestJet Regional - WestJet Encore

@ True North and CEh - I never for a second claimed that the Sabre cutover did not have issues. I am taking exception to the comments that it was an unmitigated disaster that "lost untold millions". A couple points. Any revenue loss as a result of cutover has been made more than made up for in incre...

Re: WestJet Regional - WestJet Encore

@True North Sorry, I think your sources are very misinformed. Without the Sabre cutover WS simply can't have all of the code share and interline business that we do now and will continue to get. Two employees speculating on "millions lost" and calling it an umitigated disaster just does not reflect ...

Re: WestJet Regional - WestJet Encore

@True North - The Sabre cutoover had problems but to call it an unmitigated disaster just is not accurate. I am not so sure about your figure on last revenue because of it, do you have a source for the "millions lost"?

Re: WestJet Regional - WestJet Encore

I think Realitychex has hit it on the head. Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of those fresh eyed WestJetters full of piss and vinegar are now front line and middle managers with kids and a mortgage and are probably more risk adverse as well. Durfy was more of an entrepreneur than the curr...

Re: Sean Durfy new CEO job

Interesting take by Don however I am not sure I compleyely agree with it. When it became apparent that some new blood at the top was needed both Don and Clive brought new guys in to VP positions. Clive brought in Sean and Don brought in another guy (was a while ago but I think his name was Garry?). ...

Re: Enerjet

Enerjet was not shy about going after work that had previously been done by Canadian North. Their promotional material was very specific about the advantages of their aircraft type when it came to oil patch charters. The Suncor Firebag contract could have been a money maker but the economic down tur...

Re: Hearing rumours about service cuts, domestically.

Okay, use it enough so that it is profitable. Is that better? Positioning this as a Durfy vs Saretsky thing is idiotic. YHM-YQM was a leftover from the YHM eastern hub days and the route just did not perform (your 75% anecdote not withstanding) Nobody wants to see WS people lose their jobs but I thi...

Use it or lose it. If it was making money WS would be staying.

Re: Hearing rumours about service cuts, domestically.

Use it or lose it. YHMAA had the chance and blew it when they would not come do what was needed at their airport to grow the business.

Dumb comment. How do you feel about Crichton making 1.4 Million per year for a company that has no shareholders?

Don Bell - one of the WS founders, fought like Hell to have employees exempt from AIF. Airports don't care so I don't think a petition is going to do much.

Re: Canjet losing Transat flying?

Keep in mind that the contract is not for or with TS it is with TTC - Transat Tours canada, just like it was with WS.

While the TS folks may be having a hen party and spreading rumors it is more important how Canjet is performing in TTC's eyes.

Re: Air Transat Fleet

It will be interesting to see if Air Transat brings in narrow bodies to service Transat Tours and Nolitours. The big challnege then is what do you do with them the rest of the season when not needed, better have a deal to send them to Eurpope. The Club Class Service with a hot meal and bigger seat m...

There was no 30 day cxl clause in the TTC/WS contract, I doubt there is one in the contract with Canjet.

Re: Enerjet

Interesting comments about Enerjet so I thought I would throw in my $.02 The Middle Eastern flying may sound like a great source of cash but it comes with a handful of challenges. For one thing the hourly rate is probably not a huge amount. It may be enough to keep cash flow and cover costs but the ...

Re: Recipical Jumpseat/Standby travel not working!!!!

Yes beacause in a situation where there is revenue being lost, the call centre is being swamped, and it is all hands on deck everywhere, the pilot group should "lean" on someone so you can get to work easier. How about you take a glass of chill out. Changing reservation systems is not exactly the si...
