Re: Any US Visa success stories?
I went through the O-1 visa process a couple of years ago, and while it wasn’t easy, it was worth the effort. The key for me was working with an immigration attorney who specialized in my field and could clearly explain what evidence was needed to meet the criteria. The NIW visa could be a good opti...

I’ve seen some training flights that don’t always follow the best safety practices. Experts these days amaze me.

Re: Driving a nicer car than your boss....
I’d say gauge the culture of your workplace and maybe casually mention it to a few trusted coworkers to see their reaction. At the end of the day, though, if cars are your passion and you’re not flaunting it, I think it’s fine. Just be prepared for a little curiosity from your peers! And if you do g...

Re: Class 1 Renewal with Temporary Licence
From what I’ve seen, your doctor should be able to fill out a form or a report to certify your fitness for a Class 1. They usually don’t stamp the temporary license; it’s more about the documentation they provide.

If Transat shuts down, it would leave a big gap in capacity, and AC might consider taking over leases and hiring staff. It’s delicate.

Re: Is there an AC pension calculator?
I don’t have a pension calculator, but your payout will depend on your years of service and final salary. Senior roles like WB FO or NB captain usually pay better, which can help your pension. Just weigh the stability against the work-life balance.

Re: Backpain
For my back issues, I’ve been using a pharmaceutical-grade pillow padding that really helps when I’m flying. It provides great support and keeps my lumbar area comfortable. I also started going to osteopathy in brantford , and that’s been a real game changer for me. The hands-on treatment and exerci...

Re: Living in Barrie, Working at YYZ
I live in Barrie and my job involves a lot of travelling. Traffic is indeed quite bad, but if you avoid peak hours it's manageable. If you decide to buy, choose your agent carefully. A lot of them charge high. Look for transparent commissions like the exp Realty commission split.

Re: Flying after a knee surgery
Flying after knee surgery can definitely be tricky. You might feel pretty stiff when getting in and out of the plane, especially if it's a smaller aircraft. To make the flight more comfortable, consider doing some simple exercises to alleviate body aches.

I don’t have an A320 sim, but I know a few folks in the YYC/YEG area who are into flight simulation. You might want to check out local aviation clubs or even join some Facebook groups related to flight sims. I’ve seen people share their setups and experiences there.

Re: Preparing for the Canadian Air Force AEC Aircrew Selection Test
For your aircrew selection test, I'd suggest diving into practice problems for distance, speed, and time to get a good handle on the math part. When I was prepping for something similar, I found it really helped to do timed practice tests to get used to the pressure. Also, try to stay relaxed and do...

Re: past use of marijuana and drugs
HI! Airlines like Air Canada and WestJet focus more on your recent history rather than things you did years ago. They usually conduct background checks and drug tests, but polygraph tests aren't commonly used for these applications. As for staying balanced, I’ve been using the RAZ 25000 vape, which ...

I’ve witnessed totality before, and it’s quite an experience! During the eclipse, it does get really dark, but the transition is surprisingly quick, it can go from bright to dark in a matter of minutes. You’ll definitely notice the abrupt change as the moon covers the sun. Flying during this time co...

A left seat ride typically means you are qualified to act as pilot-in-command, but it doesn't automatically equate to a single pilot rating. For specific CARS guidance, check the regulations related to single-pilot operations and your aircraft type to ensure all requirements are met.

Re: Tornado/severe weather question
It sounds like you might have experienced a straight line wind event, which can cause significant damage similar to a tornado but without the rotating column. The linear pattern of fallen trees aligns with strong, concentrated winds rather than a tornado's rotational pattern.
