Re: Legal Marijuana

I think some people are confusing TC's stance. It is the SAME as their position on alcohol. You can not operate under the influence of alcohol or marijuana. Impairment is not the issue, according to the CARs anyways. You can not have alcohol in your system or marijuana, impaired or not. The discuss...

Re: Legal Marijuana

Let me take the other side just for fun. Say I'm a pilot, after this is legal, I get busted on a drug test, reveals I used - smoked -- I dunno even the terms -- 2 weeks ago. I get fired by the company. I immediately sue the company, on the basis they can't prove impairment, so its discriminatory. I...

CRFI

Hello! Small town question: I live in Rankin Inlet, NU and am just watching a spat develop between the airport folks and Calm Air/First Air. The CRFI is .44 and there is a 50 degree crosswind at 25+ kts. The operator says the runway is unusable for a 737-400 but the Airport folks are telling people ...

Pretty sure they are wondering what 7F has up their sleeve...
The Calm Air one is different because Calm Air purchased First Air's Winnipeg/Kivalliq operation. Not as messy as the other ones.

Competition Bureau 5T/7F

Re: If you can only fly one turbo prop for the rest of your life...

A variation of this question was the only thing that kept me warm for two winters on the ramp in Rankin Inlet. Thankfully the Northern store sells Lottomax tickets. My mission would be flying the YRT-YOW-YVP triangle with my three kids and wife. Originally, I had thought of a Quest Kodiak or Caravan...

The best of the best! Great job guys.

I love how they literally flew to the end of the earth, 5000 lbs over gross in -700 degrees, in the dark, on skis and the customer says "Uhmmm... Would you mind if we just added one more passenger?"

That may be the most Borek story ever! :)

There may be some improvement if " all " of the employees of Indian Affairs and Northern Development were to be moved out of Ottawa and every employee's office were on a reserve. The Government employees could choose their reserve based on seniority in the system. P.S. : I know the name has been ch...

I have heard otherwise, but right now I am in the same situation and have been told that I am treated like a new applicant.

I heard two different versions of what would happen from two different TC offices, but my office says I am a new applicant.

Re: Flight instructor demand?

Just curious due to movement and hiring of new pilots will present instructors fill the void in the 703 world and the schools losing a bunch of them? Thanks Just trying to get back at the Multi-IFR and for what it's worth my instructor got a 703 job the day I showed up to start training. I don't bl...

Re: Calgary-bound Sunwing passengers angry after 8-hour wait

My understanding is that there were several contributing factors on this flight: 1. The -800 can't operate PUJ-YYC non-stop. Pax are informed (in big bold print) that their return flight will require a fuel stop at the time of the booking. The fuel stop is always scheduled for YHM as it isn't too f...

Oh... -2!

Tim Horton's will probably put out a commercial calling Toronto "One of the Coldest Places in Canada".

But I'm not bitter. Just frostbitten.

Nanaimo Flight Training?

Hi there,

I haven't flown in over seven years and am looking to get my Commercial license and multi-IFR.

I will be in the Nanaimo area for a couple of weeks in January and wondering if anyone can recommend a place for a quick and intense run through of the Commercial license?

Thanks!

The discussion in this thread is next to useless as no Native that I have met would apply to a job after reading these two lines: >Ability to occasionally lift upto 70Lbs >Manual............. You are really, really classy. There are many great indigenous pilots who post in here. There are literally...

Maybe bought out by the same group?

Re: Fire breaks out at new Iqaluit airport terminal

I honestly don't know anyone up here that wanted this airport. The project was approved and designed PRIOR to them even having a small conversation with First Air or Canadian North. It wasn't built for Nunavut. Well I don't know who you talk to but everyone I work with loves it. Take a walk through...

Re: Fire breaks out at new Iqaluit airport terminal

There seems to be a high rate of spontaneous combustion in Inuit communities. And Cree communities like Shamattawa. I understand the response to the budget. Everything is free right? Or the money they're getting from the government is obscenely over what is required. This setback will just eat into...
