Re: Reserve time?
Which fleet? Which position? Which base?
DH8 YTZ FO - 11 months
DH8 YTZ CA - 4 months
I don't have E2 numbers or numbers for other bases.

Re: Commuting from YYC to YYZ
Just wanna revisit this Is that YYC to YYZ commute still doable and to hold half a decent schedule, even for a new FO ? Heard of YYC people (commuters) leaving PD E2 to go to Encore because of how bad the commute is!? Porter is offering E2 pairings that begin and end in YYC and calling them 'satell...

Re: Misc WJ questions
I can’t speak to 1. 2 depends on how many years you have until retirement. 3. Most junior YYC captain is 11 years, currently 17 years to be off reserve as a YYC captain (these numbers from the updated pilot list for April). I would expect 15 years to be an optimistic/realistic upgrade time for YYC ...

Re: Do we have a commuting policy now?
Thanks but I think it's not for me. I already spend too much of my life sitting around airports not getting paid. I read unemployment is now at 10% so I will wait for economic collapse and housing bubble to pop. If you think during an economic collapse you're still going to have a job to afford tha...

Re: WestJet to Layoff 100+ Pilots
Seems like good fodder for ALPA to shut down TFW at Encore. How can they possibly entertain "we don't have enough pilots" with "we are laying off pilots" in the same breath. Here's hoping that it doesn't come to either.

Re: Dash GS and base
Sim eval? And how many hours total time are they looking at? I’m just over 1000 hours I was around 1400hrs with 700 multi-engine turbine, I believe for the Q400 they make most people do the eval as my partner already had time on type and I’m assuming he had similar hours as I did. I understand why ...

Re: Cost of Commuting
I’m gonna sound strange here. I really don’t understand why people are complaining about commuting. You accepted a position at a location that isn’t your home. The onus is on you to be at work. Some companies have policies that somewhat help with this. If you’re not willing to do it or cannot affor...

Re: Anyone else having a tough time getting hired?
Took me about a year in 2020 to find a job, ended up landing one with aerial survey. I agree with many of the posters above. Find a way to stand out. And network like your life depends on it... (linkedin, instagram etc.). Attend events in the aviation community, shake hands, reach out. There are jus...

Cost of Commuting
Why is it that we have to pay exorbitant fees to jump seat in our own country when US pilots get to travel to work for free? Is there anyway ALPA could lobby for this?

Re: Dash FO to captain upgrade time
Wow that's dumb. Why would anyone go e2 FO to q400 capt with those rules? Even a 2yr e2 FO upgrading, and going yr1 ca q400. The first year or two maybe, but compare e2 fo yr4 to q400 ca yr3. Why would anyone do that? More work, more responsibilities, less money. The q400 to e2 movement is heavily ...

What is the real reason that the upgrade times are so long? Is no one retiring? Have they hired too many pilots?

Re: Air Canada Pilot Incentive Bonus
I basically agree with all you state however what 705 in Canada would you be looking at? They all pay garbage wages in the beginning and some are still worse than AC in the long term. I might say AT but they still pay basically AC wages in the beginning as well. There's more than wages to consider....

Re: Air Canada Pilot Incentive Bonus
Ya it’s not 85K year 1, it’s 78K year 1 and 84K year 2 AND THEN onto formula lite pay for another 2 years meaning it’s only ok money FO on the WB or upgrade to captain on the NB. 85K in the GTA ain’t shit for a middle aged person with a family. Stop trying to justify a garbage deal. Accept that tho...

Re: It's Time
I hear that PAL now doing transborder flying also Heard PAL going into EWR the other day from YHZ so they are indeed doing Jazz flying. Don't forget that Jazz also got their Porter-sized raises on the backs of losing half their flow to AC. It's amazing what they had to give up just to get something...

Hiring Suspended?
Seems like the WJ/WG hiring has been on hold for the last few months. I've also read that some people are in a pool for sometime in 2025. Any idea when normal hiring will resume? Is it just because of the Boeing delays?

Not on the radar. YVR is next, along with possible mention of a YEG. No YYC has ever been stated or confirmed on any pilot call.
