Re: Prospects for a new hire in 2025
With that timing, you are probably looking at 8-10 years for an upgrade. AC is planning on very little hiring 2028-2032. You are timing the very very end of the largest hiring wave in the history of the airline. It is what it is then. I'll be in it for the long run. I'm 32YR, still got another +30Y...

Re: Prospects for a new hire in 2025
I will be applying for Air Canada come late 2025/early 2026. I understand the financial impact for the first couple years, it will be a hit. Long term I think the prospects remain positive with the retirement package. Seems at AC that Command is around the 2YR mark, with the new contract it may go m...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Quick Q.
What are the reasons for quick commands being available?
Not enough pilots?
Lifestyle choices?
Not enough candidates with hours, allowing those with less seniority to jump ahead?

Re: FAA CPL to TC CPL
[/quote] If the system works correctly, your FAA certificate will say “issued in the basis of a foreign licence” and you won’t be able to use it to get a Canadian licence. The bilateral agreement is for people who did training and examinations and tests under FAA supervision which is considered to b...

Alright. Re: FAAAA Exam
Glad it all worked out! I believe if you wrote the FAAAA it combines the two, but I could be completely wrong. The TC material on the conversation is about as clear as mud, and it is almost impossible to find anyone that knows anything about it. Hope it all goes well, Cheers Thank you! Trickier tha...

Re: FAAAA Exam
Cheers for the advice. I sat the FAAAA exam this morning. Passed. NIZUS covered around 40-50% of the topics seen this morning. I'm writing to TC to see whether I would be required to sit the FAAIA exam, as my last SIM was the FAA Instrument Proficiency Check in the A320. Should I be required to sit ...

Re: FAA "ACM" Exam
I can't comment on the ACM exam, however I've just used Sheppard Air for the FAA ATP ATM exam and it was very good. https://www.sheppardair.com/atp.htm According to their website, they also offer the ACM option - My suggestion would be to give Sheppard a call, and see whether they provide you with t...

Re: ICN
Air Canada flying to HKG via ICN was to prevent crew from potentially being stranded. Initially it was a direct flight from Canada to Hong Kong, however crew members were at risk of being shipped to quarantine for 3 weeks with a positive test result. Quick summary: Hong Kong has the most stringent q...

FAAAA Exam
Dear all. I'm currently studying towards FAAAA exam (FAA ATP towards TC ATPL) Powering through the study guide and highlighting the AIM/CAR. I'm also studying the Nizus practice exams for the FAAAA. Does anyone have experience using Nizus for the FAAAA? I can't find any recommendations or feedback o...

Re: FAA CPL to TC CPL
Brilliant! Thanks Wirez.
Yes! Ex KA here. As you know the HK border is tighter than a mosquito’s bottom so it could very well be a while!
CX are making attempts to recoup us back but many of us don’t have start dates until Q1 2022 (Post PEK Olympics)
Hope all is well!
Cheers

Re: FAA CPL to TC CPL
Hi Guys, Thank you for the creation of this forum. Very helpful! Just a quick Q - I will be converting my HK ATPL to a FAA CTP/ATP with A320 Rating very soon. Overall aim is to obtain the TC ATPL, and the bilateral agreement makes it a much easier conversion than converting my HK ATPL directly to TC...

Re: IFR Comm Failure before Approach - NIZUS Question
This is a typical scenario that happens many times for Check Rides in the Simulator. Trick is to only descend as per procedure. I find it helps when being questioned about IFR is to always assume you're not visual. In this particular case, "radar vectored for a straight-in ILS approach in IMC". You ...

Re: ATPL Application process tips
Co Pilot time is 1 for 1 now. Wherever you saw that must be old. PIC US caps at 100 hrs. Figure out what you have for PIC before the airbus ex: during your flight training or other types you were legitimate PIC on, + the 100 PIC US and see where your at. Hope that answers your question. Thank you. ...

Re: ICAO ATPL to Canadian ATPL
Hello everyone. I've been in and out of Canada for some time now and I was thinking of converting my ATPL to the TC ATPL. Briefly stated, I have 1000+ hours on the Airbus 320 and basic training plus the instructor rating on single engines. Got picked up to fly jets directly. P.S - it was not a p2f ...

Re: ATPL Application process tips
This forum has been very helpful. Thank you to all. Could I pick your brains and help me with this one? I hold an ICAO ATPL(A) with 3300HRS (Instrument time 2600 HR) and am looking to convert towards the Canadian ATPL. The problem, nearly all of my time is under P1(U/S) and P2 on the Airbus, and I'm...
