Re: Encore AME jobs

He's the reason for this whole mess and I know of no one, in maintenance wrenching, that has ever had anything good to say about him, me included. His business plan is to compete with Greyhound with airplanes at the expense of the employee's. Please qualify these statements? How is Greg's business ...

Re: On holding more than one license...

I am M2/E. I got an "E" license, then an M2. If I were to get an M1, I would no longer have the "E" on my license, which I believe is important. More important than the "M2"... There isn't (to my knowledge) a correspondence course for E. So to get the E rating you would have to go back to school. Th...

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions

Westjet's compensation policy is to pay industry median, right? Now, I'm pretty sure that more than a dartboard was used in the decision to set the current pay scale. If the wages are below that median for a regional airline then please, lets be constructive and post some comparators. If they are ou...

Re: Can I have a cat?

All jokes aside, do the cat a favour and don't get one. Cats are much too social to be left for days on end alone. Yes, they are a lot lower maintenance than dogs, and you could leave one for a bit if you absolutely had to, but they still need the attention. You need the flexibility anyways if your ...

Re: What is with this forum??

AME's are professionals, then let's quit the personal attacks, insults, crude remarks as it is so juvenile. Well said. I believe this is a major pitfall for AMEs, not just on a forum but also within our companies. We need to raise the bar, and it has to be an initiative thats starts from the floor.

Railroaded, absolutely not, being out played on the public chess board, without a doubt. May I suggest you read up on the events leading up to where we are today. It has nothing to do with the public and everything to do with company and government actions with regard to labour practices and law. T...

To the Pilot's at Westjet: My example was not meant to be inflammatory and I am sorry if that's the effect its had. There is a lot of frustration/emotion involved it this for your AMEs and I can't say I'm surprised if your noticing when talking with some of us. There is no question, it would be very...

Re: Tech Ops guys PM ME

True North: This is a thread about AME compensation at Westjet. Firstly, you've tried to hijack the thread and make it about autopilot MELs, correcting us on what it says (which I find quite amusing since you've never read it). Now you've tried to stir up a little drama here an make it about pilot's...

Re: Tech Ops guys PM ME

Considering the job we do and the liability assumed, AMEs are underpaid in the industry. The Median philosophy is flawed in this regard. Its about fair compensation for the job . Do we need to wait for AME Unions to get a pay raise for us to? Because that's the way it currently works. The aircraft a...

Seriously, A lot of flight crews are in such a panic to leave it seems, is it so suprising that this could happen? Umair, what make you think you were disqualified because of your age and country of birth? Did they come out and say that, or is that an assumption on your part? When did you imigrate? Don't be to quick to "pull the race card". I have noticed that imigrants can sometimes have problems in the intervi...

Re: Compass not swinging

Take the metal end of a tape measure and deflect the compass 2 degrees. After you remove the tape the compass should come back to the original heading. Try this on each of the cardinal headings. If it doesn't return to the original heading, the jewel bearing is probably toast and the compass should ...

Re: breakers

Probably the most common cause of "smoke in the Cockpit" problems are blower motors in re-cerc systems or in this case defog. DC motors have brushes. When the brushes wear out, they start arcing. That what causes the smell. Pull the motor and replace it/check the brushes. Oh, and don't trip CBs by s...
