Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
The sad part is I don't think the company saved any money by layingoff 600 folks and down train the 3500 still on property to then up train the 3500 and recall the 600 in a 18 month time frame...Everybody is changing seats... Also makes you wonder if having 3-4 different types on each NJA and WJA i...

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
That is the official company forecast directly from the VP or Flight Ops as of this week. He hopes they can recall earlier, but they are not forecasting 75% of 2019 levels until spring 2023 and that’s the trigger for recall. We are currently 1100 pilots over staffed. I highly doubt that’s the case ...

Re: Voyaguer Salary
Voyageur pay is actually pretty damn good. A large part of the total compensation is the ridiculously high periderms (and yes, in this case they are pay since in many places you are in a company accomodation with food supplied). Plus the danger pay %. I know FOs who were making over 100k a year. One...

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
CATSA reporting over 60% of 2019 numbers, this with the "scary" omicron variant. USA has fully recovered. We will be well over 75% by spring 2022. VP of Flt Ops was wrong. Management at AC will never admit they made a mistake with their recall process. Many people were saying for months that AC is p...

Re: Contrasting views on doing VO.
Imagine being so entitled that you do overtime when there's hundreds of your colleagues on the street without a paycheck. "But the contract says I can" You sound like a fool. And people won't forget, and names stay on lists forever. I hope none of you commute, because you're never getting a jumpseat...

Sadly they'll still likely get hundreds of applications. Of course anyone recently let go from the better contract will be left in the dust. Scabby operation.

Re: Contrasting views on doing VO.
Once one is off flat pay(4 years unless you upgrade to Captain) the pay at Air Canada(for days worked) is close to the best in Canada. Yes it is shit compared to legacy Carriers in the US, but that is not our reality right now. So if you have tenure at AC, then straight pay for overtime on a day th...

Also all the different "efficacy" rates really can't be compared. All the vaccines were tested in different places at different times of the year etc.

Anecdotal I know, but I am hauling a lot of people, unvaccinated who are having their second major (icu) covid stay. So Natural immunity is not lasting even 12 months. How many are overweight, over 50, with lung, heart or autoimmune issues? Honest question. How man younger healthy people are you ha...

Re: Omicron layoffs?
Is there talk of layoffs again with the new variant/ travel restrictions ? If anything the airlines in Canada should be breathing a sigh of relief that things might slow down for a month or two, so they can catch up with training. Especially AC, after dropping the ball bigtime. Instead of worrying ...

Re: Contrasting views on doing VO.
I heard a story that at Delta, on initial line indoc there's the "unofficial" portion where the Captains go over all the union related stuff including telling the new hires that no one takes overtime at 1.5x or 2x. It's an understanding that everyone passes until it goes to 3x. And while they might ...

You are correct. I do not work for Air Canada. None the less, regardless of where one is employed [while I understand it] I don't condone bashing one's company or union on a public forum.

Personally, I don't agree with it either: bashing one's union or place of work. There are better ways to make a change. If anything, I call my union rep and have a discussion. I have done that and there were times he and I strongly disagreed on certain aspects, but we were able to reach a middle gr...

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
A lot of furloughs are bypassing their recall. AC sweating Bypassing on this second round? I don't think you will see as many bypassing on this round besides people who are on a LOA. A number of those pilots who didn't accept recall on round 1 were waiting for YVR positions to become available. Wil...

Re: Avada Kadabra
It's embarrassing that this and similar posts exist (union and company bashing). If you're having union issues it won't get fixed venting on a public forum. All it does is make the pilot group look like cry baby victims. Real change comes from taking action by volunteering for leadership, or voting...

Ok I just used RAP = Reserve Availability Period which sounds like the same thing as callout period. How long are they, and can they be bid on? Can crewsked change the callout period after they've been assigned? Can they bid specific days, or are canned reserve blocks created and you pick the one th...

Naive is right. It has to stop somewhere. They have people whose job it is just to @#$! us...

It doesn’t matter how many calls and emails you get. It’s still paid flight relief on Alpa days so it’s not like they are doing free work. Can you explain your reserve system?
How do your RAPs work, can you bid them? Can the company change them after assigned? Long call? Short call only? Lienholder rights after assigned (pay protected) or no?
Thanks

Re: Opening up the borders for Canadian pilots in the usa
The 1000 hour part 121 time requirement for a captain seat is going to be a problem for any work visa. It doesn’t help the airline a ton to bring in F/O’s that can’t upgrade for a couple of years who are on a visa that will need to be renewed. It also is less appealing to the pilot who will be stuc...

FWIW, If people hate the concept of VO that much, and there isn't any instance where its acceptable, maybe it should be written out of our next contract entirely. Yet AGAIN, you are completely missing the point. This has nothing to do with a discussion about VO/Draft in general. Under normal times ...

Re: Contrasting views on doing VO.
O.K. What is the plot then? It's quite possible I've missed something. Perhaps the Company made a crewing error. This is entirely possible due to the situation rapidly changing both with psychotic border restrictions and Virus spread predictions. Are you going to hold their feet to the fire during ...
