Re: Dangerous Scheduling Practices
That’s good info for us to work with on the next contract. Sounds like Flair is not the only airline in Canada that has not automatically fully credited sick days from day 1. Good to hear Porter is getting this resolved in August. Hopefully Flair won’t be far behind

Re: Dangerous Scheduling Practices
That’s what MMG is all about. Honest question as I don’t know the answer… Do all the other airlines in Canada give you your full credit if you call in sick?

Re: Should I jump ship
Yes, if you can get hired at Flair with 1200 hours I would definitely give it some serious consideration. If you’re looking to build jet time and make money Flair is a great spot. We are still planning to get 8-10 new airplanes next year I think so you might find yourself in a pretty good spot a yea...

Re: Any Update On The New Contract?
No, of course not. ALPA and the company are not going to open up the entire contract. That’s for the next round when this contract expires, it’s coming fast though…

Re: Any Update On The New Contract?
Those of us that actually work here know what a good job this is. Does it come with some extra risk? Absolutely! It’s a small Company so while that comes with several huge advantages it also doesn’t have the stability of a more established airline. Is it worth the risk… for the majority of us I’d sa...

They didn’t cut any flights. They are flying the spring schedule as planned, back in August.

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
Forgive the expression, putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t change the fact it’s still a pig. Does the company manipulate the contract and ignore the language? Yes Do they put you on reserve in Mexico, where a pilot might otherwise enjoy the 5 day pairing with 3 days of no duty? Yes Are they ignoring...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
Exactly this. You are saving a lot of pilots (many of them new with the only goal of flying an airliner) a ton of headaches by informing them about the realities of these companies before they hit submit on their applications. It may be eye opening but the reality is most of it is greatly exaggerat...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
I really don’t understand people like you. If it’s so bad that you need to come on a public forum to vent about how horrible your current airline is then why don’t you just leave Flair? Jobs aren’t hard to find right now. Or are you the type that complains to people that can’t change anything becau...

Re: 777 Funded Flair Using Insurance Customers' Deposits
Really, you don’t think 777 could lease the 8-10 airplanes they lease to Flair right now to someone else? The delivery delays from Boeing on the Max have caused companies all over the world to change their expansion plans because they will not be getting their airplanes on schedule. Leasing Max’s is...

Re: Shutting down most of the airline
Flair hasn’t lost anywhere near 25-30% of its pilots recently. That’s just not true. They hired one small class in November to cover some attrition.
Also, I can’t see any flights canceled recently out of YYZ or YKF so I doubt that claim is true either.

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
That trip you posted is over 21 hours credit. It’s a great trip for commuters. You can leave home after lunch on Day 1 and be back home for Dinner on day 5. I mentioned this before but last year at this time there was a big cry out for multiple day pairings. A lot of pilots are pretty happy about wh...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Nope. Any calendar day away from home base that has no duty attached to it is credited at 4 hours. I think maybe you have misunderstood. It’s been explained several times lately in various forms around the company. They are not crediting like many of those overseas airlines do. That is completely fa...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
You can’t work more than 3 of those 6 day pairings in a month. If you have an entire day off down route you get paid 4 hours for it. Most of the time you get a reserve shift in there anyway though.

I just spoke with some VERY senior training Captains. I was shocked to find out that some of the top seniority pilots are looking to move on very shortly. Sounds like great news for the junior crew… always good to have a few senior people move on and keep the seniority list moving. When are they le...

Sounds about right. This time last year everyone was complaining about not having any layovers and how hard it was to commute…this year everyone will be complaining about too many layovers, in Cancun of all places!

Re: Shutting down most of the airline
Those are some interesting numbers for sure. Most of those Airports you mentioned were seasonal so no big surprise of the reductions to them in November. What will be interesting is to see if the flying comes back in mid December when the busy winter schedule is supposed to start up. Only time will ...

Re: Fall 2023 Hiring Update
Are there airlines in Canada that pay for accommodation for your entire line training if it's in your assigned base? I was under the impression you are on your own other than maybe the ground school portion, but if it's in your base city I'm not sure even that would be paid for... which airlines are...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Not sure about the logic here. For every negative statement in there you could probably counter it with a positive one. This place is like any other airline, some things are good, some are bad, some are bad because the contract is being misinterpreted and need to be fixed. Looks like a resolution ha...

Re: Flair Hiring B737 FO's
Is there anyone that could share what the rosters are looking like for the newer hires at the company? Are they reasonably efficient, Can you get any days off you request (are you working every weekend), is there much reserve, how many days off between days of flying (can you commute)...?
Thanks
