There's 3000 PSI to the elevator and a "feel" unit that gives artificial feel to the controls because of it. I'm pretty sure it could be iced up in the shape of a brick and it'd feel the same as if it were clean. I doubt that disengaging the A/P would make a difference. I could be wrong though...
