Re: Dash FO to captain upgrade time

Yes, and it’s easy to operate both types…simply some of the operating crews will be locally based and others not, no different than currently in every base. I can see a Q base out of YHU and E2’s out of YUL…why? Because all the current YUL pilots are E2 while any future Q “Montreal” pilots will be o...

Re: Flair still searching for capital infusion

…in this business economy of scale is so tremendously important…Jetlines, Lynx, Flair and Porter all said they’d have 50 tails etc etc etc. J and L are gone, Porter is 44 or so and taking deliveries….Flair is down to 19 or 20…and with none on order from Boeing, massive competition from Ryanair, Easy...

Re: It's Time

….there’s this little thing called the Canada Labour Code and Canadian Industrial Relations Board that deals with all of this…and of course ALPA doesn’t want you to know about it because then they’d have to tell you that the CIRB is the actual one in charge of deciding who gets what, why, when and h...

…there hasn’t been any direct non-YYZ base hires because the “outbase” positions are offered to existing crew first…and awarded accordingly. They all chose to grab a number and commute until the base opened or expanded.

…IMHO..if anywhere might get DEC’s it’s YOW. The base expansion is expected to be very significant and other than FirstAir there’s not a lot of “homegrown” talent there at present. Lower housing prices than everywhere but YYC and YEG and an airport that has urban and rural close by giving lots of ch...

Those of you who are triggered by this video because you felt it was an insult to WJ pilots completely missed the point. Maybe watch the video again and leave your emotion out of it, because there's a very important point being made about the way AC management leverages their salaries against US ca...

Re: Encore pilots vote 79% yes to garbage 5yr contract

Because 79% most likely are just using encore as a stepping stone and in a few years are off to AC/Porter/Overseas. So might as well get a slight pay bump while getting your ATPL. I love this Let's be really shitty unionists and capture some sweet Fort St John's flying so I can build some hours to ...

Given the axe? More likely he saw the writing is on the wall and got out before the music stopped. …admittedly never flown Flair but from what a couple of Flair pilots have told me, namely they don’t even buy printer paper or have ACARS in most aircraft, I’m wondering if they even play boarding and...

Re: Are New E2 FOs Screwed?
It is a massively complex issue, and I'm sure ALPA is waiting for the right moment to strike a deal with hopefully soon to be Canada's 3rd largest airline. IIRC the DECs significantly exceed the Dash pilots on the E2. Not sure who's pushing for the union currently as I'm just focused on tra...

Why wouldn’t ALPA in the States want to keep out Canadian pilots. Do you think letting Canadian pilots in would help them get better wages and working conditions? On a similar note do you think ALPA Canada should lobby to let in pilots from other countries to force are wages down?
..absolut...

Thank you! This is exactly how it SHOULD be. We need to lift each other up. Leap frogging over each other's contracts (pattern bargaining) is exactly when we need to reverse the erosion of this profession. I literally want you all to be paid extremely well for your jobs as pilots no matter what colo...

…load means nothing. Yield is the true measure of profitability. Lynx could have sold 189 seats at $50 per ticket all in yielding $0 net revenue after AIF, NavCanada, fees etc. Porter can sell 77 to YYJ, mostly retirees, who clean out the buy on board, bring (and pay for) luggage and that flight is ...
