Re: What is going on with recalls in Canada?
With this inept government of uneducated buffoons running things, don't count on it. We've surpassed all their targets and still the asshole in charge is not opening the border. And when things do pick up and our airlines can't spool up, the Americans will reap the rewards. Trudeau has fucked this u...

Re: What should entry level pilots do?
This was my situation back in the early 80's. You couldn't buy a job. I was offered an apprenticeship as a Millwright and took it as I could see it would be a long time for the industry to recover. I did this this for 20 years, bought a house, got married, had kids. Once the kids were more independe...

Re: Companies Laying off.
Any word on cargo operators...Cargojet, Morningstar, etc? Thx No flight restriction for cargo. We are still permitted to fly U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean. Apparently we are considered an essential service like the trucking industry. So far nearly full schedule except overseas. What will happen wh...

Re: No Bailout for Bombardier
Edit: a word Bombardier has not been given a billion dollars every year, so this is what makes me think they won’t receive a billion dollars every year. Bombardier employees have paid more in income taxes than the company has received in bailouts, so this may be better than the outcome of having ma...

Re: Am I too old to be a commercial pilot?
I was 35, but had a ppl since I was 18. It takes a lot of money and study time and desire, but with the industry the way it is you can climb the ladder quickly. I worked part time instructing for a number of years as I two had a family and the pay sucks and had to keep my full time job. Big issue is...

Why don't you just call Transport. Don't go by what people say here. Lots of armchair critics. Incidentally, I started at 36. I already had my PPL, but pursued my commercial then an instructor rating then my my first break at a jet at the age of 45. Taught part time for a few years as the pay sucks,...

Re: Airport Parking Ruled a Taxable Benefit
I'm sure next will be jumpseating. If you only pay $50 for a jumpseat and not paying the full fare, the government will be wanting their money on the extra. This government pisses away so much money they will come after every dime they can steal from the taxpayer. So those of you who think this is f...

Re: Cargojet
Just wondering what time are you generally getting back to YHM? Would it be possible to jump seat to YWG the same night, or will you have to wait until the following night? You get back into yhm anywhere from 4am to 1pm depending on the pairing. Some pairings you get back in the evening. 8pm to mid...

Re: The solution to pilot shortage?
Doesn't do much to encourage the next generation to be a pilot. It's already hard enough to get people to spend the better part of a 100k for training, work for minimum wage for many years and have no life to be a pilot.

Re: Bill Tourtell has passed away.
Wow.
Bill was my instructor in 1980. He got me through my private and commercial. Very inspirational and always had something encouraging to help with those days that things just didn't go right. Now flying a 767 I still look back to my days at Peninsulair and Bill.
RIP Bill

Re: AC in the News Again
I don't back the airlines too often, but on this one I have to side with AC. After a couple years of flying the "bus people" around and listening to their entitlement crap I had had enough of passenger flying. And the media loves to create a story. Like the one about the passengers bumped for wearin...

Re: Class 4 Flight Instructor with a newborn baby
I had 2 kids and wife and a mortgage. I was a licensed Millwright (industrial mechanic) when I decided to teach flying. I already had a commercial license. It took a while, but I was able to get a job close to home teaching part time.. I was able to still make the money as a full time Millwright and...

Re: 2 yr agreement vs. bond
I have made them a cash offer for a substantial amount. Haven't heard anything back. My lawyer has said that if it comes to court it is in my favour. She has found a few cases, aviation related, that have gone against the companies for not spelling out the terms and consequences properly of a contra...

Re: 2 yr agreement vs. bond
That is the argument I'm having with them. Nowhere is it written about training costs. Only the written forfeit of profit and bonus pay. Here's the good one. They say I should have asked. When I said I did ask about a bond they said there isn't one and that was it. I read through the contract carefu...

Re: 2 yr agreement vs. bond
I actually have in an email from the company that there is no bond. If there was I would not be here. I will not sign a bond. What made me and my lawyer laugh was when they quoted in an email that they are basing this on some contract law based on Judge Judy from TV. I'll here from my lawyer in a da...

2 yr agreement vs. bond
Anyone know law. If you sign a 2 yr to stay agreement and leave before that, can a company claim training costs. There is nothing written about training bonds and they admit that. The only thing written is you forfeit the profit share and performance bonus which they hold for 2 yrs.

Re: Personality a Setback?
Look into cargo flying. That way you don't have to deal with people. I hate the way some passengers think they are entitled to everything for their cheap tickets. I'm a little anti-social myself and prefer cargo. Just have to be able to handle a lot of night flying.
