Re: Emirates or Air Canada
Quite a few rather defensive posts here. There are reasons you'll want to go to AC. Money isn't one of them. For me I couldn't take the 85-90% pay cut. There are reasons you'll want to go to EK. Being home with friends and family isn't one of them. Expat life is not for everyone, and once you've lef...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
You get full pay at EK for up to 1 year of sickness. If you're still sick after a year then they'll look to get rid of you. I had three months off recovering from an injury and had zero issues. I'm not trying to paint a picture of everything being perfect, because it's not. But nowhere is. The reali...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
I work at EK. I posted a couple of years ago, enquiring about the pros/cons of short haul in Air Canada, as I was looking to move back for family reasons and was fed up with ULRs. Unfortunately, both of my parents passed in the interim period and it removed my pressing need to get back. We have quit...

Re: 320 CA YYZ
Yes, I just saw that. I thought it was run as a completely separate entity, but obviously not! It is all a bit confusing. Much more reading to be done on my part.
That said, thanks again for the input. It is genuinely helpful.

Re: 320 CA YYZ
Thanks all for the valuable input, much appreciated.
Sounds like AC just isn’t going to work for what I want.
I’ll have a look at Flair and Rouge.

Re: 320 CA YYZ
Upgrades are possible under 4 years. You go to formula pay with the completion of the upgrade. Reserve gets 12 days off in a 30 day block period and 13 days off in a 31 day block period. Days off are assigned at the award of the block. 4 day and 3 day pairings are common, you won't be home in betwe...

320 CA YYZ
Hi folks, I posted in another thread a while back, but no replies so I thought I’d try again in my own thread. Age 45. Overseas for the last 20 years. 13,000 TT. 12,000 hours on jets above 60T. 5000 hours PIC. Masters degree. I want to come back to Canada for family reasons and because I’ve had enou...

Re: 5,6,7 Pay
Hi, Can someone very quickly explain how the pay scales work? I realise there is flat pay for first 4 years. Is there a monthly minimum guarantee of hours? Is it possible to pick up more hours on an open flight type system, or to drop hours? Any form of “banking” hours so you can fly a lighter month...
