Re: Hiring

Ok, now I'm curious... Just looked through the collective... salaries aside 1. You can be scheduled for 18 days a month..how many are you actually scheduled? 2. What's a typical day for a crew 3. What kind of schedule could be expected 4. Do they actually move your days off around within the month? ...

Re: Swoop then Asia?

It would be interesting to see the posts about WestJet when it first started... Was this forum around? I bet it sounded very similar. Middle East and Asian airlines are parking aircraft due to lack of crew. I'm sure they care about swoop. I bet Air Canada, Transat and Sunwing will hire you from swoo...

Re: Air Canada Pool

The interesting thing is.... I believe Delta will now hire directly from the feeders without interviews. I agree with you Old Fella. Given everything else being equal, and in any industry, you'd think it would make most sense to hire from "within". If nothing else, you would probably have better tra...

Re: Air Canada Pool

When you are at one of the express factions you are on a different path than outside hires. There are a bunch of factors but it comes down to seniority. I think the problem AC is going to have is that if they don't hire enough guys from Express, guys will stop coming to the likes ok AG or SKY. If th...

Re: Air Georgian

fruitloops you obviously have no idea what you're talking about so just stop. Jazz was getting updates on the pilots AC was taking for years. That's the whole point of the alliance, it allows (in theory) for the regionals to prepare by hiring replacements. I don't think even Jazz PML ver 1 had a 75%...

Re: Air Georgian

From internal source over 90% have been rejected by AC on the pml. Now they are shopping for a chief pilot. Unbelievable. Anyone looking for work, be patient and join a real outfit. Apparently crews are being extended on a regular and they are even beginning to schedule "hot" reserve, where one loi...

They most certainly wont be upgraded at 1500 hours. No idea why they chose now to introduce a cadet program but its around 2% of the total number of pilots hired given forecast numbers so hardly a significant number. My money is on some management types kid or family member wants to be an professio...

Re: Flap setting on walkaround

My two cents. As mentioned earlier.. (and experienced first hand) the 3 main things I look for on a 172 with regards to flaps: 1. Push rod straight 2. Track not cracked/divited (I guess that's not a word) 3. The rollies are actually circular both 1 and 3 has happened to me in the past. One rod was b...

Re: Another CMA Thread

Quick upgrade to what? Keep in mind most Captains at CMA go right seat on the Q at Encore or Jazz... and I think that's the majority of the movement there right now.

Not gonna get into the value of PIC of ME, but if you want to go the airline route.. MEPIC is marginal these days.

Re: Another CMA Thread

I worked there about a year ago. The minimum requirements for a low-timer were a multi-IFR, IATRA, and 250hrs TT. I'd say there's many much better places to go for a low-timer than Alberta at the moment. Thanks for the response. I'm assuming you were based at Calgary? If you don't mind me asking, d...

Instructors. You can generally deal with the rest but if you have inexperienced or time hungry instructors it quickly wares on students. IMHO

Re: 747 EPR Question

The 1.18 IEPR will be your target with flaps 30 on the ILS. If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about the logic and more about being able to pull the attitude/IEPR out of your ass under pressure. I've seen guys drenched in sweat after the 30 min "ride". It sounds simple but the 747 is a slipper...
